What does the day of look like when you have a Wedding Coordinator?

When you have a wedding coordinator on your side, your wedding day should be seamless and stress-free so you can truly enjoy your festivities. They take care of the details so you don’t have to.

The wedding day is so much more complicated now than it was 10 years ago. They are typically big productions with 10-20 vendors to be managed, with a complex and packed itinerary to execute. Hiring a wedding planner assists you with the leg work of sourcing and planning, as well as knowing who to hire for the right job. Hiring a wedding coordinator to take care of the wedding day coordination is the final detail to the wedding, ensuring all the time, money and energy you have put into planning your day is executed properly.

Chances are if you don’t hire a planner or coordinator, you will take care of all the details yourself or rely heavily on your friends and family. Let them (and yourself!) enjoy the process and wedding day, and let a planner who has experience in planning take care of the headache for you. If you do not enjoy planning or don’t have the time to do it well, hiring a planner is especially important.

When hiring a wedding planner or coordinator, what are some important questions to ask before booking?

How many years have you been planning and how many weddings do you typically take care of every year? What services do you provide? Do you provide design services as well as planning and coordination? How long are you there on the wedding day? Tell me about a time that you had something not go according to plan and how to came up with a solution for it.

Any helpful advice or tips for our readers?

You get what you pay for. Just like in hiring a real estate agent, it is a hospitality role where you can get started with very little knowledge and experience under your belt. Make sure you do your due diligence in hiring a planner with experience and industry connections to make your wedding day dreams come true.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Before I jumped into wedding planner, I was a special events manager in the non-profit sector. Prior to that I had a degree in graphic design. I have always enjoyed the creative process, and weddings and events are an amazing outlet for me to help clients make their dreams a reality.

Outside of work, I love to cook, take care of my senior rescue dog, and bike. I stay creative by trying new hobbies regularly like painting, Chinese calligraphy and furniture restoration.
