Dutch design... Designcord studio at work Dutch Design is a term used to imply design in The Netherlands, particularly product design. More specifically, the term refers to the design aesthetic common to designers in The Netherlands. Dutch Design can be characterized as minimalist, experimental, innovative, quirky, and humorous. These values are deeply rooted in the system of the team of designers working in the Designcord studio and we all feel passionate about creating a forward design aesthetic, inspired by art, architecture, travel, fashion and great music.
About the founder Michael van der Jagt born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, has a background in economics and developed a strong passion for art, architecture and design. He started with his first company back in the year 2000 and designed and engineered computer components with a strong focus on a more ergonomic working environment. The idea for Designcord was born out of frustration about the cable products available at that time and he recognized a lack of innovation and a lack style and fun in this segment. Together with a team of experienced engineers with a background in vacuum cleaner development he designed and created the Designcord product line-up.

All in house
Regards from Rotterdam, Shanghai and Miami
98% of the product you purchase from Designcord has been created in-house. Just 2% of the final product (mainly the packaging materials) are made elsewhere. We do the designing and engineering in-house. We have a department that engineers and manufactures the molds we need for our products. The plastic injection is done in-house and even the winding of the copper for the cables is done at our facility near Shanghai, China. This way we fully control the quality of the products, we manage our working conditions and we are able to carefully select the raw materials.
Presently Designcord is operating out of three locations on our globe. The headquarters and European distribution center is based near Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Designing and development is managed out of the Designcord studio in The Netherlands in close cooperation with the engineering departments based near Shanghai, China, where mold making and manufacturing takes place. Out of Florida, USA, the North American markets are developed and served.

Safety & convenience first... Garden cord with safety strap
Designcord created a very convenient SAFETY STRAP for garden cords. The SAFETY STRAP secures the power cord over your shoulder and prevents it from falling down on the ground and getting damaged by the electric gardening tool you are using. A safe and very convenient solution to use your electric tools around the garden. The strap is made of black nylon and the power cord is embedded inside over your shoulder. There is a strong clip to open and close the strap and the strap is fitted with a carabiner hook so you can attach the strap to a belt loop for extra support. The SAFETY STRAP can be bought as an add-on product for customers to buy separate so they can combine it with a cord they already own, or we can make a combination with a cord matching your requirement or market.

Multi-way extension sockets created with an eye for detail Did you ever wonder why these things come in the shape they are? No? Well, we did. And we thought the available products look ugly. Their shapes have been created many, many years ago with the limitations of technology then. But technologies have advanced. More shapes and surface treatments are possible these days. So we decided to redesign this very common item and we did our best to make it look and feel better. We shaped our DC table sockets with a bit more style. Simple but up-to-date.

Multi-tool-galore
Loop it to hold it, store it and carry it. The Looper™ from Designcord is a firm plastic grip with a strong Endura-flex™ elastic band that can act as a convenient help during any chore or activity. The possibilities are almost endless… Just pull the elastic band around whatever you wish to hold and place the elastic band over the handle. This way gravity and the weight of what you are holding pulls down the elastic band and firmly secures it. You’ll be surprised how often this nifty little tool can come in handy.

A Hold’em sticks to your desk or behind your desk or anywhere really…. and conveniently keeps hold of your cable to keep it within reach. They are available in a set of 3 in a variety of colors….to match the color of your iPod…. or phone…. etc.
Powerplay...
Cables are dull. Well not anymore! Why not make cables somewhat more attractive to look at? They hang or lay around the house all day, so a little more attention to detail does not hurt anyone. These cords come with a pleasant textile wrapping in different designs. That not only makes them more pleasant for the eye but they feel friendlier too. And they are not as tough and stubborn as ordinary cables. Be inspired and create your own designer lamp... The Designcord products are available in heat-sealed blisters for 2,5 meter/8 feet or 5 meter/16 feet. Or in bulk on carton rolls of 100 meter/300 feet each.
