Martin Ferguson, the Australian Energy and Resources Minister, has written this misleading letter to Preston residents. I am not and never have been a member of the Greens. I applaud the refurbishment of the park, but deplore its opening by a minister committed to fossil fuels and climate inaction that contradict the very environmental values the park so aptly demonstrates. Finally, Ferguson claims protesters were not prescribing a net zero emissions 2020 target for Australia - they simply supported the net zero emissions target for 2020 adopted by Darebin Council. That's a good start, and far better than the feeble 2020 targets proposed by the Australian Government.
