Spotlight TravelExpo Arusha will be a live face-to-face success Expo targeting Arusha- & Moshi-based Travel Agents & Tour Operators selling inter-regional travel. The Expo will be held 2nd February 2023 at Gran Melia. It will be a half-day event and will have a large number of trades from Arusha and Moshi who attend. More than 42 exhibitors from mainland Tanzania, Zanzibar and other East African countries will participate in the show. The Kilimanjaro Marathon 2023

The 2023 event marks the 21st year and, this year, Kilimanjaro Marathon expects over 10,000 plus runners in the various events, with approximately 20,000 spectators on route and in the stadium. This year’s event will be held at the Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU), on Sunday 26th February 2023, from 6am and will comprise the races of 42 km, 21 km, and the 5km fun run. There is already a lot of buzz all over as the online registration continues, with this year looking promising in terms of numbers following the growing popularity of the event.

Sauti Za Busara Festival 2023

Excitement and anticipation are rising for East Africa’s favorite music festival, Sauti za Busara. The festival is gearing up for its 20th annual event, celebrating music from across Africa in Stone Town, Zanzibar, next year from 10th–12th February 2023. The globally acclaimed extravaganza takes place at the Old Fort and Forodhani Gardens, hosting 20+ exhilarating music performances on main stages, on three nights in February. In addition to music live shows, the festival includes several other activities both in Stone Town and in other locations in Zanzibar; the most popular of them being workshops and a carnival parade in the streets of Stone Town. Serengeti National Park

Tanzania’s conservation agency is making a major foray into sports tourism, vowing to invest multi-million dollars in developing a state-of-the art recreational facility, as it seeks to unlock the potential for leisure travel. The Conservation Commissioner for the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), Mr. William Mwakilema, unveiled an ambitious plan that will see a pioneer top quality golf course built near the worldrenowned Africa’s premier national park of Serengeti. The 18-hole golf course being constructed within 400 acres at Fort Ikoma, an area that serves as a buffer zone for Serengeti District and the Serengeti National Park will be among the world’s few golf courses within or near national parks. Billed to be one of the world’s exclusive and longest golf courses with an array of challenging features, the new golf course promises the ultimate African golfing experience, where golfers share fairways with giraffe, zebra, impala and monkeys, while viewing a bigger game behind the park. During a round of 18 holes, golfers are likely to encounter aquatic life at various watering holes, while majestic, yet inquisitive giraffe, zebra, cheetah nonchalantly observe their swing from their unique vantage points.

Tourism Digitization In Tanzania

Better days for the tourism industry in Tanzania are in the offing thanks to the UNWTO Academy for imparting tour operators with pertinent digital marketing skills. Dubbed “On-site modules training on tourism digitization,” is the brainchild of 2 key UN agencies, namely the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Academy under the auspices of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO). The first UNWTO Academy digital tourism training of its kind for Tanzania tour operators covered marketing, online events, e-commerce, sales optimization, web analytics, business intelligence, and customer relationship management. In view of the growing importance of tourism in the Tanzanian economy and the need to develop the necessary digital skills in the subsector, the UNDP Tanzania has requested UNWTO’s technical assistance in the implementation of key activities related to building digital capacities of related stakeholders to stimulate and accelerate tourism recovery.
