B
ea Foster, Allied ASID, has had a long career in fashion and design. She decorated homes across the U.S. for 35 years as an interior designer. After Founding bea’s Design and Fashion Center, she established its reputation as a virtual design wonderland. For 25 years, foster coordinated the Central Ohio show of the Ebony Fashion fair—the world’s largest traveling fashion show. As chair of the nonprofit group, TWIG 110, the group raised over $350,000 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Now Foster’s work is centered on giving back. She formed Beau Beautiful Inc, a non-profit 501c3 and organized The Chandelier Gala as the first annual fashion show benefit. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Cancer and Sickle Cell 2 THE 2ND 3RD ANNUAL BLACK TIE CHANDELIER GALA
B
orn in Middle America - Circleville, Ohio, Mary Ann can best be described as a self-taught, self-motivated artist whose work continues to gain depth and expressionism.
As a child and in high school, Mary Ann expressed herself in artistic ways, through different etchings and physical art renderings. Although she garnered little support from her surroundings, her passion for art continued to ferment. No one but Mary Ann knew about her creative inner drive. It didn't help that Mary Ann exuded a quiet demeanor early on, and was raised in a strict household laced in old-fashioned values. After her children were born, she painted intermittently. When the children started high school, Mary Ann realized that there was a large void in her life so she picked up her paint brushes again - something she knew - something she loved. Mary Ann's mix of genres continues to amaze her fans as she is able to express her messages of African, Caribbean, Abstract and Contemporary stories within many different types of mediums. Mary Ann has also dabbled in the firing and painting of clay caricatures.

Throughout her travels, local and abroad, Mary Ann is inspired by all kinds of people and their cultures. But it is her deep love for Black Culture that drives her passion to paint. Through her paintings she is able to combine these loves and show her fascination and love for black art, her pride, and devotion to her race. She paints what she sees and feels what she paints. Mary Ann is so very easy for others to see her experiences and expressions through her art, that she is willing to show her art to anyone who's interested, and hopes they see a part of themselves in her characters. Although she has had limited formal training, Mary Ann has taken private artist tutoring classes, along with class time at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center. More importantly, Mary Ann has exhibited her works around Ohio and Florida.

Mary Ann is one of eight children; she has a twin brother, twin sisters, and two other living brothers. She has been married to Marcus L Anderson Jr. for 48 years. They have three grown children and four wonderful grandchildren. â– DINNER AND FASHION SHOW 2016 3
Our Designers Juan José Saenz-Ferreyros Peruvian Fashion Designer Juan José Saenz-Ferreyros sold his first designs in Lima at age 15, later starting Ferreyros Couture. Although basically self-taught, Juan José attended Chio Lecca Fashion School in Lima, Peru, continuing his studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He then worked in Medellin, Columbia in the fashion house of Miss Columbia Universe. Juan José learned to create custom-designed clothing that complement the individual customer’s lifestyle. He is known for creative designs that customers feel good wearing. Juan José was inspired at a very young age by the many parties attended by his parents in Lima, the capital of Peru. Weekend evenings were formal, with women wearing long dresses and evening gowns (perhaps like the Jackie Kennedy Onassis era here in the USA). Juan José recalls beautiful evening gowns in chiffon, with embroidery, bead work, and crystals – and often evokes the emotion of that time as he creates his designs. Juan José is recognized as a designer to both pageant contestants and the stars. Overseas he has designed for Miss Colombia Universe, Miss Peru USA, and other celebrities. He most recently did a costume for Miss Ohio Latina for the international contest in Mexico. He has mounted Runway Shows in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. He also designs home furnishings for MG Home, an exclusive store in Lima, Peru. Although his real love is fashion, Juan José has trained as a journalist, model, fashion designer, and chef. He was a runway model in Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Colombia, and in 1987, was crowned the top Peruvian model, Mr. Peru. Our Designers Jasmine Burton Jasmine Burton is 22 from Columbus, Ohio. She is currently a senior attending Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD), majoring in Fashion Design. She currently has a 3.5 grade point average and has had the honor of being on the Dean’s and President’s list. In her junior year, in tailoring class at (CCAD) Jasmine’s teacher entered her class project “Beaded Glory” into the ITAA (International Textile Apparel Association), which will be displayed at the ITAA National Symposium in Vancouver, BC, in November 2016. Since an early age Jasmine has been creating with scissors and materials to make something beautiful for the wearer. She has the ability to develop creative and conceptual designs. She is efficient in pattern making and various other pattern manipulation techniques, along with her meticulous sewing skills. She is always working with her talented hands to create and develop new ideas in fashions. She would like to dedicate this and all of her fashion shows to the late, Wendell Burton, her fashion design teacher at Fort Hayes Career Center. She was a great inspiration and one of the reasons why she is designing today. Her legacy will live on through Jasmine’s love of Fashion.

I am a fashion designer and seamstress. All my work is hand made a made exclusive. The things that sets me apart from other designer is, I bridge the gap from runway to street wear. I design casual garments with a edge. Most of my garments are only made once to ensure my clients/ customers are getting the exclusive feel they’ve been desiring. I’ve expanded into doing plus size as well. My target market are ages 20- 45 years old. The working woman, sharp, growing in her career, openminded, and ready to do that in style. I believe clothes are a way to express yourself, so why not give people a reason to talk.

Kisha was born on June 21, 1974 to Willie (Boo) and Marcia Johnson in Columbus, Ohio. Kisha was our greatest gift from God. She was loving, kind, generous, gracious, fiercely loyal and had a marvelous sense of humor. Kisha lived her life to the fullest – whether skydiving, parasailing, running a (half) marathon, or cooking dinner, she did it with gusto and elegance. She believed there was nothing she could not accomplish with prayer and preparation. And prepare she did. She completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia University and her post-graduate work in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. While successful in her professional endeavors, family was the foundation of Kisha’s life. On September 7, 2002, she married Eric Hudson, her soul mate, and gave birth to two beautiful children. Their son Kedar Sol was born November 23, 2004 followed by the birth of their daughter Eden on September 21,2006. They were two of her greatest joys in life. And, Kisha’s life was good. Kisha will always be remembered for the wonderful gift that she was. Her battle was fierce. At the end she had fought the good fight, she had finished her race, she had kept the faith. And her transition was peaceful.
Although Sonya has fallen asleep in death at the age of 30, her family and friends will never forget her laughter, her love, warm and kind spirit. And thought the best way to remember her is to give everyone information on what sickle cell is. Sickle cell disease affects many individual's each day. Take a moment and imagine looking healthy on the outside but battling a rare life threatening disease on the inside. Each and everyday of their lives they face pain, infection, fatigue and even death. Today treatments include pain medication, transfusions and rarely bone morrow transplants. Thank you again for your continued support with the gala to fight cancer and sickle cell. Sonya's best friend another sickle cell warrior, miss you my friend.❤ Tiffany Richardson

Standing in the Need of Prayer
Blake’s story by Amberly Barr Never did I imagine that my son would become part of the yearly statistics of children diagnosed with brain tumors on July 29th, 2016. Blake was quickly referred to the ER by his pediatrician Dr. Bramel. His pediatrician was concerned, because Blake was so nauseated, he had a headache on the left side of his head, and he was seeing double. Dr. Bramel noticed that Blake’s vision had changed since his well-child visit. During the emergency room visit Dr. Evans ordered a CT scan to see what was going on. The moments that Dr. Evans explained the results of the scan will stay with me for the rest of my life. There in the scan a tumor the size of a soft ball was on Blake’s left frontal lobe. As he was explaining all of this I could not help reflect, HOW?! The symptoms of this had been so silent expect for the past few hours. Were we still talking about the same child who was enjoying the summer weeks with his sister Maddy at the water park, the zoo, 4-H, the fair, and playing football? We quickly began working with Dr. Wright the oncologist at Dayton Children’s after surgery. Within the days to follow Dr. Wright revealed to us the pathology results
from St. Jude’s. The results told us that Blake’s tumor is an anaplastic ependymoma stage III cancer. I asked the oncologist how long had the tumor been there? He explained that it had developed in the past three to six months. The oncologist then explained that the type of cancer Blake has is aggressive I am most impressed by the medical team member’s ability to act quickly. Their expertise and genuine caring spirits will continue to help Blake through this even as we connect to the Children’s hospital in Philadelphia. The Oncology clinic at Dayton Children’s has quickly become our secBlake Barr ond family. Blake’s Nurse Kari is so thoughtful and provides extra opportunities to communicate with Blake.
Blake has a big journey that lies ahead of him, but the love and support from the Staff members at Children’s, his family members, his friends, and strangers that we quickly become familiar with are going
Maurice Stokes, Jr. Maurice Stokes, Jr. is eigth years old and was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia when he was four. He started taking a drug named Hydroyvaea and that drug along with prayers, he has not had a pain crisis in five years.
