Laguiole knives The Laguiole knife is the result of a near 200 year handcrafted tradition from the town of Laguiole, France. The knife was originally inspired by the Spanish “Navaja” knives that farmers brought back as souvenirs from their winter trips. Local farmers, cutlers and tinkers started making their own version of this handy folding knife. Thus creating what is known today as the Laguiole, a distinct folding knife with the signature bee decoration. [These became so popular that the region eventually became known for these beautiful pieces.]
“Laguiole en Aubrac” knives Today there are only a few Laguiole manufacturers who still craft their knives by hand - “Laguiole en Aubrac“ is one such company. Exclusive to Culinary, the “Laguiole en Aubrac” knives are meticulously hand-crafted using forged 12C27 Sandvik Iron, and finished with a variety of highly sought-after precious materials in the handles. Each knife is meticulously handmade from start to finish in one sequence and by a single craftsman. Original Laguiole knives carry the trademark Bee on each handle.
