FLYING

with

BRITISH AIRWAYS

FPP

This month’s ‘postcard home’ comes from Chloe Harrison, a First Officer for British Airways. Chloe has just started flying with British Airways as one of our BA Future Pilot Programme graduates. She started training with us in June 2012 and took to the skies with BA in March of this year. “Just thought I’d send you a quick note from the right hand seat of the A321 I’m in today.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

On my way back from Milan and off to Stockholm later for tea! Life in BA is pretty incredible, I’ve been here two and a half months now… training’s complete and I’m loving life ‘on the line’. There’s something new and exciting to see and learn every day; from flying over the Alps watching huge electrical storms (from afar of course!) to circling approaches in Pisa as the sun sets in front. At the end of this month it will have been two years since that day I arrived at CTC Aviation, gathered my uniform and met my class mates - I have not doubted this life choice for one second. I love flying and I am so incredibly excited to see what’s coming next! Don’t ever give up …”

HONOURS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

An optional BSc Honours Degree in Professional Aviation Pilot Practice in association with CTC Aviation, Middlesex University and our Partner airlines is now available through CTC WINGS. This pioneering initiative offers a solution to the ‘university first or straight into flight training?’ decision many ponder over, as it provides the opportunity to complete your degree whilst undergoing your flight training; whichever CTC WINGS Route you choose. And, of course, you get to do all this whilst learning to fly in amazing locations such as New Zealand and the USA! A unique feature of the CTC WINGS degree is that the final phase comprising ‘work based’ aviation management modules – is completed whilst working with one of our Partner airlines. These modules are specifically tailored to suit the airline’s needs in order to prepare you for additional management responsibilities as your airline career progresses.

A further benefit for those opting to incorporate the degree into their training is that it provides access to student government loans via ‘Student Finance for England’ for those eligible. With CTC WINGS courses commencing every month, it is possible to start training at any time. The first cadets opting to include the degree have now completed their ATPL exams and are about to commence their flight training in New Zealand. So far another 20 cadets are following in their footsteps and already in training.

UPSET PREVENTION and RECOVERY TRAINING CTC Aviation recently introduced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) as a standard feature on each of our CTC WINGS Routes – whether ATPL Integrated or MPL. This innovative approach sets us apart from other training providers in two ways. Firstly, UPRT is increasingly seen as a fundamental part of training by the airlines, but – as it is not mandated in the ATPL syllabus – most schools do not offer it. Secondly, it reinforces our ‘airline-focussed’ approach to training and further ensures a trainee pilot’s smooth transition through the various phases of training and into the right hand seat of a passenger jet. Furthermore, you will complete your flight training on some of the safest aircraft in the skies. Our fleet of next generation Diamond and Cessna aircraft is equipped with both EFIS and TAS technology* to even better prepare you for your future airline flying career with one of our Partner airlines. *Garmin G1000 Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) and Garmin G800 Traffic Advisory System

$4million

NZ

INVESTMENT in NZ accommodation It’s not just our new Phoenix Crew Training Centre that’s seeing some changes. A NZ$4 million extension has just been opened at “Clearways”, our Crew Accommodation Centre in New Zealand. Over the next year, we are looking forward to seeing a record number of pilots training with us in New Zealand and to support that we’ve added an additional 72 bedrooms, bringing the total capacity of “Clearways” to 200. In addition to the new building, a new fit-out in one of the adjacent buildings has created a modern fitness centre – this doubles the indoor workout space on site. Each of the new rooms has an en-suite bathroom, kitchenette and study area, and all rooms are air conditioned and fitted with TV and telephone. The whole of “Clearways” is also wifi enabled. New Zealand is an awesome place to learn to fly. But it’s just as important to ensure you have great facilities to live in whilst you’re in training. “Clearways” certainly hits the spot and it’s great that we can now house all of our trainees together throughout their training with us.
