Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)

Instrument Rating ground school and examinations are followed by flight training commencing in our Diamond DA42 simulators.

You will complete further ground school to enable you to pass the remaining NZ CAA examinations. In addition, you will further refine your general handling piloting skills as well as develop your non-technical and communication skills to a standard expected of a professional pilot.

Your initial aircraft flight training time will be completed in our Garmin1000 equipped Cessna 172 aircraft with the remainder of your training completed in our new generation, twin-engine, Garmin1000 EFIS equipped DA42 aircraft to develop further your instrument flying skills to professional standards. With this qualification, you are approved to fly multiengine aircraft in instrument meteorological conditions and use the aircraft instrumentation to both navigate and make approaches to an airfield, rather than relying solely on visual references. Approximately 18 weeks

The CPL phase is completed in either the Diamond DA20 or the Cessna 172 in which you will further enhance your handling skills of single-engine aircraft in readiness for the Commercial Pilot Licence flight test. This phase also includes a mountain flying course and the training required to achieve a night Rating. You are now qualified as a commercial pilot able to fly in all weather, day or night and also be paid for your services! Approximately 11 weeks
