Leading, customer focussed cooperative The rich history of CRV and its predecessors dates back to 1874 when Dutch breeders started a herdbook for Dutch Friesian cows. Today, CRV is a future proof cooperative, owned by 23,000 farmers in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). CRV’s headquarters are based in the Netherlands, from where we support our offices and barns all over the world.

Healthy and efficient cows We invest in the health and efficiency of cows. Therefore they perform better. They live 6-12 months longer, they produce more milk using the same amount of feed and they are better for the environment. Depending on the wishes of every farmer, we deliver cows that suit their breeding goal. CRV Health means a fertile herd, in which conditions such as lameness and udder inflammation are rare.
CRV Efficiency stands for higher lifetime production with the right balance between feed intake and milk production.

Understanding Dutch type proofs Understanding Dutch type proofs is not as difficult as you might think. The values and ranges of the Dutch proofs may look different from what you are used to, but if you compare them to UK, US or Canadian proofs they are quite easy to understand. The graph shows the ranges of the proofs in the four different countries.
Distribution of indexes Conformation Conformation is built up in frame, dairy strength, udders and feet & legs. The objective is to get a cow with functional conformation. Cows need to have good locomotion and the ability to eat plenty of forage. Moreover, a well-balanced conformation will contribute to a healthy cow.
