here are no two ways to say ‘Outstanding’ are there? How did this CQC award happen? > The CQC inspect all social care companies in England. They give just 48 hours’ notice so there’s nowhere to hide! Following a rigorous inspection of our care records and ways of working, our inspector gave us really wonderful verbal feedback on the day. Her written report and rating decision were reviewed by CQC

colleagues and ratified by a panel of inspectors. What does the rating mean for your business, staff and clients? > It feels like validation for all the hard work our care workers and office team do on a daily basis. We work to provide a completely bespoke service to our clients that responds swiftly to their changing needs. We knew we were

in their own home matter so much? > For so many reasons. Ultimately though, because we support people to stay independent in an environment that they are familiar with and want to stay in. It is such a privilege to care for people in the latter stages of their lives. We hear so many wonderful stories and learn so much from them.

providing an excellent service and the inspection rating confirmed it for us all. It’s also reassuring for our clients to read an independent report about the service they are receiving. For the business, it will help us stand out in what is a very competitive market. We’re also hoping it will help us recruit new care workers in 2017 as an outstanding employer. EatMeDrinkMe goes night market NEW BROADWAY W5 > What a weekend for Kate McKenzie, the woman behind the bumper two-day market outside the Ealing Town Hall. Saturday’s after-dark affair saw a variety of pop-up shops and booths selling locally made produce – even the red-suited man stopped by with his reindeer. Sunday’s #W5FoodMarket was all about food, however, with pitches offering freshly made streetfood, farmers goods, artisan breads, cheeses etc. And of course there was live music to add another layer of enjoyment. @EatMeDrinkMeLDN Below right: So excited to see Just Another Slice up and running, after being lucky enough to sample their signature toffee chocolate brownie over a year ago – best of luck, Emile and Carla Bottom: Ealing LibDem councillor Jon Ball introduces his son Oliver to the reindeer outside Ealing Town Hall

Iranian bakery in W13 LEELAND ROAD W13 > Afsheeh Barkan’s London Sangaki “traditional Persian bread” bakery is located at 5 Leeland Rd, West Ealing – where The_Ealinger freelancer Joanna Dudzinska stopped for a visit. “When I came into the shop,” describes Joanna, “the two bakers were working making more sheets – sheets, yes not loaves, were hanging on the sides to cool off.” The bread is baked on a bed of small river stones in an oven. Afsheeh (in photo at right) says London Sangaki is the first fresh traditional Persian Sangak bread producer in the UK. @LondonSangaki

Ealing Soup Kitchen fundraiser SINGAPORE ROAD W13 > Within minutes of publishing last Monday’s edition of The_Ealinger featuring our Q&A with Andrew Mcleay of Ealing Soup Kitchen, we were queueing to drop pound notes into the pudding bowl collection basket during the “West Ealing Celebration” held at the Orchard Cafe. The celebration was for congratulating and encouraging members of the West Ealing community on achieving projects such as the My West Ealing mega-website, the West Ealing Workspace coworking hub, and the Dean Gardens project. According to Andrew, the £128 fundraised would be spent on sleeping bags for homeless people in Ealing.

Snack time in Pitshanger PITSHANGER PARK W5 > This is a story about seven dog friends who meet in Pitshanger Park most days to go for a walk and get some exercise. Last Friday they stopped by the Will To Win tennis courts where The_Ealinger managed to snap and video them all obediently sitting waiting for a treat.
