Q&A Liz Pilgrim Her much-loved baby brands store, babye, closed down shortly after being raided in the August 2011 Ealing Riots. But Liz Pilgrim has relaunched babye as a blogzine alongside an online shop. In our Q&A she explains what’s going on...

Q&A

aving a busy 2016, then? > This year I’ve been working hard to grow my award-winning online trade website/magazine and gain national awareness – every week I curate news and information from maternity and baby brands and present it through my maternitybuyer.com website and newsletter, which is targeted to UK retailers and internationally. The website is proving really popular with a growing database of subscribers and I now have regular advertisers and sponsors. I have collaborated with the UK’s only childrenswear trade show bubblelondon.com to help them bring a maternity section to the show which took place for the first time in June

2016. The next show takes place in January 2017. Tell us about what’s happening with babye. > After closing the shop [on Ealing Green], I’d been reluctant to let go completely, and having gained confidence through launching maternitybuyer.com, I decided to relaunch babye as a consumer mum and baby blogzine with news and launches, combined with an online shop in

association with Amazon. The online shop has a selection of maternity and baby products that I’ve curated, many of which I sold in babye in Ealing. So our customers will recognise items such as Sophie the Giraffe, Strawberry Bibs, MamaMio Boob Tube and Jellycat Bashful Bunnies! What you’re doing is really useful to help boost baby and maternity-oriented businesses in Ealing – explain how clients can make the most of what you offer.

> I offer potential clients both a trade and a consumer channel to market pregnancy/baby/ children/lifestyle products with bespoke marketing packages that include advertorials, competitions, sponsored posts in my newsletters and across all social media channels. I also offer consultancy, training and workshops for anyone interested in opening a shop, and with over 20 years in marketing and retail specifically in the maternity/baby/kids sector, I am the UK’s leading maternity brand consultant. babye.co.uk @babyeblog
