TheCentralregionchampionswere abletodrawfirstbloodintheirSenior

LeagueSoftballWorldSeriesopener withtheWest,andwereabletoride that earlyoffensiveefforttoan8-4win. Withsinglerunsinthefirst,and thentwomoreineachofthesecond andthirdinnings,Centralwasableto builditselfa5-0leadforAudrey Gilman.Thewinningpitchertoedthe rubberinthecircleforfourhitlessinnings,allowingjustoneearnedrun, whileoffsettingthreewalkswithseven strikeouts.Shealsohelpedherselfof-

Fromthere,itbecameatestof whosepitchingwasgoingtokeep theotherofftheboardmoreoften thantheother.Andintheend,itwas theEast’sJessBretzwhowouldprevail,allowingjustoneruntherestof theway,forthe7-6Eastwin.
