his month other cover girl is Dawn, hailing from one of the oldest cities in the Philippines - Cebu! Born under the Libra sign and as most people will agree this girl is a sure head-turner. Dawn used to work as a sales representative in the automotive and telecom industry and is used to grind and work the daily corporate grind. She eventually started to pursue modeling as a career when she noticed that she is getting a lot of requests to model for shoots. She then progressed to getting booked for print and television commercial advertisements, ushering and car show gigs. One thing Dawn would never leave - and that is singing. She considers singing as her passion. She loves to sing and gets in front of the mic every opportunity she gets - be it on a friendâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s birthday party, wedding and even despidida parties. Her dream is to travel around the world someday, to feel and experience different cultures and get a grasp of the world one travel itinerary at a time.

ast September, for about three weeks, I was assigned in one of the Floating Production Storage (FPSO) facilities located in African seas. So far, it was the farthest business trip I had and my very first time in Africa â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Angola to be exact. Applying for visa was not a problem but I was required to have a vaccination before I can proceed with the application. It was single injection but the pain can be felt for a couple of days. I was also required to pass the survival training which is a must for engineers going off-shore. Though I was kind of hesitant with the assignment at first, especially with the outbreak of the Ebola crisis, I had no choice since I was in charge of this project. It was a 17-hour trip from Japan to Angola. The sun

was just about to set when I arrived but my eyes were closing since it’s already midnight in Japan. I didn’t have the chance to explore Luanda but during my travel from the airport to the hotel, I was able to see how vibrant the colors were, from clothes, buildings, graffiti, etc. For one night, I stayed in a city hotel in preparation for my early morning flight. I have to take a chopper as the facility (ship) is in the middle of the ocean. It was the longest two hours of my life since it’s also my first time to ride a chopper. For the next 18 days, I found myself observing how the sea and sky meet while doing my supervisory work. The sea was relatively calm which was a good thing or else I will be constantly throwing up. Environment was quite challenging though, as you have to stay on the ship even after a 12-hour shift, but it gave me a chance to appreciate the limited environment I am in. What an escape from the busy world. The internet access was also limited and for a while, I am free from the chaos that is social media. Everything was a routine and I was embracing it. Offshore assignment was completed in less than a month. It was definitely a different learning experience as I was able to witness oil production in the middle of the ocean. I stayed for one night at the city hotel again to have a rest before flying back to Japan. The "hotel was a bit expensive, but it was cozy and newly-renovated. As the plane took off, I wave the African sunset goodbye. I may not know where exactly my next assignment will be, all I know is that my trip in Angola made an impact in my professional life.

Hi, Can you tell us something about yourself? Im Mimai Ong, 19 years old, well I really donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know where to start hahah Tell us how you got into modeling? Well I have been modeling since I was 16 years old. Yes! I know I was really young when I started but I had to take the opportunity because I am my familyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s bread winner. I started out by joining bikini pageants, even when I was just 16 I could easily pass off as older and this helped me to pursue my schooling and help my family as well. Did you stop schooling when you got into modeling? No, because the only reason I got into modeling is because I wanted to continue studying. I love to go to school, I am actually a student athlete and even compete in throwing events like Javelin throw, shot put and discus throw. Being an athlete, I was able to get discount on my tuition fees and I got to represent my school as well which is a big achievement for me.

So you worked, studied and competed in sports all at the same time? Yes! I am studying in Olongapo so imagine my schedule in school is from Monday to Friday and at the end of the school week I have to go travel to Manila even if its late at night because most of the modeling jobs are in Manila. But I feel that its really worth worth it.

あなたも税金の還付申請対象者！！知らない人と差がつく！得する税金！？日本に住むフィリピン人、又は配偶者がフィリピン人の日本人は約９7%の方々に税金還付のチャンスが有るのを知っていますか！？

皆さんは日本に住む外国人も日本人と同じように所得税と住民税の還付申請ができるという話をご存知ですか？日本で働き日本の所得税と住民税を納めていて母国の家族や親戚に援助を行っていれば、一定の条件のもとその行為が「扶養」と認められ、税法上の優遇すなわち「扶養控除」の適用を受けることができるのです。最長で所得税・住民税それぞれ5年分の納め過ぎた税金が還付されるということです。では実際どのくらいの税金が還付されるのでしょうか？還付される金額はあくまで支払った税金の範囲内で、それ以上になることはありません。しかしこれまで支払った税金の合計は意外と多額で還付予想額を算出すると皆さん非常に驚かれます。この制度適用は外国人のみならず、外国人を配偶者（フィリピン人等）にもつ日本人も配偶者の家族を扶養していれば適用されます。外国人と結婚した時点で配偶者の母国に住む配偶者の家族・親族も法的な「家族」となるのです。もちろん経済的な援助をすることで「扶養」となるわけですから、これを証明することが必要となります。還付申請を行う上で重要な注意点がありますので説明いたします。＊日本人が申請する場合、扶養親族と認められるのは外国人配偶者の3親等以内の親族。外国人が申請する場合、自分自身の6親等以内。＊「扶養」とは扶養親族に経済的に援助（金銭・物品）していること。またそのことを証明する書類を提出できること。一般的な質問事項＜＜Q & A＞＞ Q: どれくらい還付されるの？ A: 還付金は、申告者により異なります還付の可能性と還付概算額等は、申請時に個々の書類を確認後に判明します。 Q: 還付されるまでの期間はどれくらい？ A: 還付金額同様申告者の扶養状況により異なります。最短で約２~３カ月、最長で約１年から１年半程かかる方も中にはいます。 Q: 手数料はどの位？ A: 申告者により異なりますが、基本的には還付金額に対しての２０～２５％（グループ割引、リピーター割引あり） Q: ビザを持っていませんが、申告は可能？ A: 超過滞在者（オーバーステイ）でも申告は可能ですが、申告には必ず外国人登録されていることが必須となります。
