The Mocs play four times over a seven-day period with the Battle 4 Atlantis here before the short jaunt to Kennesaw State on Saturday. It ends next Tuesday when Georgia visits McKenzie Arena on Tuesday, December 2. - This is the first meeting with Robert Morris. The Mocs are 5-0 all-time against Northeast Conference schools: 2-0, LIU Brooklyn; 1-0, Mount St. Mary’s; 1-0, Sacred Heart; 1-0, St. Francis (PA). - The last NEC school to visit the Roundhouse was LIU in the 2009 Dr Pepper Classic. Chattanooga topped the Blackbirds 76-59 in the first round en route to the title. - After opening the season at home, the Mocs have played three straight on the road. They were 12-2 in McKenzie Arena last season and 13-2 under Will Wade at home. - The Battle 4 Atlantis event this week affords Chattanooga the opportunity to host what is a strong mid-major field. Robert Morris has won two straight NEC titles and boasts NIT wins the last two seasons over Kentucky (2013) and St. John’s (2014). Coastal Carolina is the reigning Big South champ and ULM is coming off a strong performance at then-No. 8 Florida falling 61-56 in overtime. 1


2014-15 CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL NEXT UP The Mocs remain in McKenzie Arena Thursday for the finals of the mainland version of the Battle 4 Atlantis. They take either Coastal Carolina or ULM. The consolation game is at Noon, with the championship tilt at 2:30 p.m. HEAD COACH WILL WADE - Head Coach Will Wade is 19-18 in his second season as a head coach. This is his first meeting with Robert Morris. - The 18 wins in year one were the most for the Mocs since the same total in 2008-09. - Wade is 13-2 at home, 5-14 away and 1-2 in neutral site contests in his career. - Wade is a 2005 graduate of Clemson. He has worked with current collegiate head coaches Larry Shyatt (Wyoming), Oliver Purnell (DePaul), Tommy Amaker (Harvard) and Shaka Smart (VCU) at Clemson, Harvard and VCU, respectively. - Wade’s staff includes a former head coach, Wes Long (Queens, 2009-13), former Mocs standout Casey Long (2004-07) and Brooks Savage. POSTGAME PROCEDURES

The UTC locker room is closed. For home games, following a 10-minute “cooling off“ period, Wade comes to the media room first followed by visiting team coach (if requested). Selected Mocs follow the visiting coach. Visiting player availability and locker room accessibility depends on that team’s procedures.

SOCON TELECONFERENCE

The Southern Conference hosts a weekly teleconference for its men’s basketball coaches during the spring semester. A complete schedule will be emailed upon release.

SOCON WEEKLY AWARDS

Every Tuesday during the regular season, the Southern Conference announces its Player of the Week. There is also a monthly award that will be announced early in the month following the previous one’s competition.

The preferred name is simply Chattanooga, while the abbreviated form is UTC. There is no hyphenated version (i.e. UT-Chatt, Tenn.-Chatt, Tennessee-Chatt, UT Chatt, etc.). The nickname is simply Mocs. 2014-15 CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL EARLY SIGNEES - Austin Donaldson: 6’1” point guard from Jonesboro (GA) High School. Considered one of the top point guards in the state of Georgia, he led Dan Maehlman’s Cardinals to the Class 4A state title in his first season as a starter. He averaged 8.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He chose Chattanooga over Sun Belt Conference member Troy. He was ranked No. 8 overall in Georgia by bigshots. net just ahead of signees for Xavier, Cincinnati, Mississippi State and Tennessee. - Trey Kalina: 6’11” post from North Cobb Christian (GA). Plays for Greg Matta, brother of Ohio State coach Thad Matta. A three-star prospect per future150.com, he ranks as No. 37 nationally at his position, 11th-best overall in Georgia. He averaged 8.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game for a 21-9 Eagles team in 2013-14. He chose Chattanooga after visits to LaSalle, Appalachian State and Liberty. - Lamarcus Lee: 6’2” combo guard from Scotlandville Magnet (Baton Rouge, La.). He is the No. 15 prospect by NOLA.com/Times-Picayune. His Hornets are trying to reach a sixth straight Class 5A championship game under coach Carlos Sample. The Hornets won it all in 2012 and 2013. He reportedly received offers from VCU and South Alabama and is a two-star wing according to verbalcommits.com. - ZaQwaun Matthews: 6’4” combo guard from Myers Park High School (Charlotte, N.C.). He averaged 15.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest for coach Wes Hepler’s Mustangs who reached the first round of the state tournament. He decided on the Mocs over interest from Richmond, Charlotte and East Carolina. He earned Southwestern 4A All-Conference from the Charlotte Observer in 2014.
