This year’s conference is being held on Thursday 12th March, and we’d love to have you there. The challenges and opportunities relating to the mental, financial and physical health related wellbeing of our people are now firmly at the top of the business agenda, alongside increasing awareness and understanding of the myriad of issues involved.

The critical importance of the wellbeing of our colleagues to both employee and customer engagement and also to the reputation of the wider enterprise is now recognised across the board in a fast changing and fast moving working environment. Research shows that colleague stress levels and the attendant wellness challenges are at an all-time high in the workplace against a backcloth of disruption and uncertainty. ACAS Case Study: How organisational culture impacts wellness: Developing a wellbeing infrastructure to drive cultural change Abigail Hirshman, Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing, ACAS The world economic forum have recently confirmed that higher employee wellbeing is associated with higher productivity and firm performance. The drivers of employee wellbeing are varied, however some common factors include social relationships, making jobs more interesting and improving work-life balance. In recent years, organisations have focussed attention on mental health and wellbeing, offering a range of services such as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA’s), awareness raising events tied into national campaigns and focussed training for managers on managing mental health. Whilst these are all beneficial; to really impact organisational culture, a far more systemic approach is required. Using relevant case studies and evidence based research, this presentation will focus on how organisations need to consider their processes, interactions and systems through a wellness lens to develop an infrastructure that will drive a cultural shift to improving employee wellbeing.
