“Los Chicanos”

A transition to chicken The chicken story comes from a while back, actually. I just remembered. In the 1980’s I hung out a lot with punks who wore the mohawk; however, I never had one. So, I often mimicked them by putting my hand on top of my head… it also made the style look like a chicken. This canvas is just a tribute to this era, to my friends who have all since become big company reps or business leaders. They used to look like punks, but I’m still what I was back then: a graffiti artist. Hence, the title “Punk Is Not Dead”.

About CEET's Chicanos When I first started, I did like I was a normal writer; I was doing graffiti letters, tagging, bombing trains, tagging in the street and I used to do also some characters. I grew up with my friends from Tru Skool from Toulouse. Step by step, I tried to get my own style, I liked to always play with colors. When I first came to China and started drawing my chickens everywhere, it was super funny. I decided to keep it because for me it was like the best way to enjoy graffiti, even more than letters. It was also to communicate with a non-western people, chickens let me play with colors, now I do chickens instead of letters The chickens came from China, when I started to draw them to show what I wanted to eat in restaurants. I used to have a pen and paper and had to draw all the time what I wanted to communicate (like “Turn left.” or “Go right!” or “I want this…”). I just kept drawing chickens for everything and it makes everyone laugh. Eventually, it became my icon. .
