A Comprehensive University High Teaching Standards The principal stand that gives NUST distinction as an alma mater is its no-compromise policy in the deliverance of high quality education to its students. As a result, the services of highly-skilled and professional teachers are acquired, who not only teach to the best of their potential but also sow a seed of professionalism among their students to ensure excellence in the real sense of the word.

Faculty-student Ratio Currently, over 12,000 students are enrolled at NUST. However, there are 1,160 faculty members out of which 45% hold PhD degrees. Faculty-Student ratio is approx. 1 : 10

Initially established for the promotion of engineering education par excellence in Pakistan, NUST has progressed well to emerge as a leading comprehensive university in Pakistan. Various constituent schools and colleges functioning under the umbrella of NUST are imparting high quality education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in an array of disciplines ranging from Engineering, Information Technology, Management and Social Sciences, and Medical to Basic Sciences. Eligibility Criteria of PhD 1. 18 years of education in relevant discipline from HEC recognized institute with minimum CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 or 3.75 out of 5.0 (in the Semester System) or First Division (in the Annual System). Percentage will be valid only if the CGPA is not mentioned on degree/transcript. 2. For Basic Medical Sciences: MBBS and MPhil, or MBBS plus FCPS (Basic Medical Sciences/Clinical Subjects). 3. GRE Subject International (score-60 percentile) or GAT Subject by NTS (score-60 %) or local GRE subject type test (score-70 %) conducted by NUST (as applicable) is required.

Payment of Student Fees: •

In case of new admissions students have to pay the admission processing fee, security and half semester fee in advance at the time of admission. The remaining half semester fee has to be submitted after three months of admission but not later than month of December. Challan for admission charges along with first installment of first semester fee and Provisional Selection Letter will be available on NUST website. Tuition fee will be charged on semester basis except the first semester fee which will be charged in two equal installments. Students have to pay their fee in advance before the commencement of semester otherwise they will not be eligible to sit in the class. Deadline for the payment will be posted on website. Full tuition fee will be charged for on-campus duration. The student who does not complete the course work within the on-campus duration will continue to pay full tuition fee till completion of course work. Thereafter, the student will be charged 50% of the tuition fee till completion of degree requirement. Offcampus tuition fee during research phase is charged for continuation of registration with the University and utilization of institutional facilities (such as library, laboratories, help from faculty etc).

Tuition fee for the first academic year (two semesters) will be deposited through Bank Draft at the time of admission. Subsequent, tuition fee will be paid through challan form generated by Finance Directorate, NUST. The structure and schedule of payment will be intimated to the selected candidates. The security deposit is payable along with the admission processing fee at the time of admission.

Financial Aid Merit Based Scholarships Merit based scholarships and research grants are given to Masters & PhD students. Students having good academic record and high research potential are given merit based scholarship to augment their academic & research progress.

Assistanceship Teaching and Research Assistant may be awarded to suitable Masters & PhD Students who are willing to assist the faculty not only in the conduct of undergraduate classes but also in carrying out research during the normal working hours of the institution.

Need Base Scholarships NUST provides NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIPS to its selected Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of fresh entry every year on the basis of their financial need. The final merit for award of NNBS is generated on the basis of need of the student and his/her admission merit.

Deferment of Tuition Fee Needy students who are unable to pay the fees are allowed deferred payment on case to case basis but they are given degree after repayment of balance amount. Minimum 50% of fee is to be paid by the student in each semester with remaining 50% amount to be cleared before award of certificate so that the students can get some jobs.
