It’s hard to believe we are celebrating our fifth Hullabaloo! This one-night-only-sodon’t-you-dare-miss-it street festival is a party that has it all—toe-tapping music, thrilling bike races, mouth-watering food, tasty libations, kid-tested fun and more, all in the heart of NorthWest Crossing’s charming neighborhood center. Friday, June 29, 3:30 to 10pm.

And why spend a beautiful Central Oregon summer evening indoors watching a movie? NorthWest Crossing’s Compass Park is again the host site of the popular Munch & Movies outdoor cinema series, spanning four weeks in late summer (August 17 to September 7).

Clip this handy event calendar so you’re always in the know about happenings in and around NorthWest Crossing. And for more details on any of these events, please visit www.nwxevents.com. See you around the ‘hood soon!

ccording to Mr. Webster, a hullabaloo is defined as “a great noise or excitement;” an uproar, if you will. Here in NorthWest Crossing, we call it the best darn way to kick-off summer.

And this is just the first of many fun, family-friendly events taking place in the ‘hood this summer! Our fourth season of the Saturday Farmers Market unfolds the Saturday morning following Hullabaloo (June 30, 10am to 2pm) and we couldn’t be more excited about the organic growth naturally taking place with this soulful weekly event in our neighborhood. Due to popular demand, we’ve expanded the market to a whopping 13 weeks this year, so be sure to enjoy every one of them!

Anastacia 4pM

Anastacia is a singer songwriter who moves through musical genres like a fearless explorer traveling the world. Familiar sounds of Americana, folk rock, bluegrass and a hint of eastern spice, drive Anastacia's expression of external and internal observations creating a vehicle for her storytelling. Anastacia composes her music and filters it through her long-time band members weaving a unique and unlikely combination of sounds such as banjo, saxophone, stand-up electric bass and violin. Anastacia creates an expansive atmosphere through her dynamic voice and style of delivery. Poetry and music collide to ignite an uplifting, thought-provoking, high-energy experience.

7pM

3 Leg Torso creates charming, elegant and daring modern chamber pop music infused with equal parts tradition and innovation. Since the ensemble's humble start in 1996 with spontaneous street performances, they have been featured on National Public Radio's All Things Considered and at the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival, successfully toured the east and west coasts, released four CDs (two with New York spoken word artist, NPR contributor and Duplex Planet founder David Greenberger), composed and recorded film and documentary scores as well as licensing music for film and television both in the US and internationally, written new evening length works commissioned by the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA), and performed both their original compositions and their arrangements of traditional music with several symphony orchestras.

8:30pM

Storm Large has been singing and entertaining audiences around the globe for more than 20 years. With her band, She has toured all around the US, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Iceland and Singapore. Taking a break from rock touring in 2007, she ventured into new territory and played Sally Bowles in Cabaret and fell in love with the theater. In 2008 she wrote a musical memoir, “Crazy Enough” that ran for five sold-out months at Portland Center Stage in 2009 in Portland, Ore. Following its opening success, “Crazy Enough” ran at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival earning rave reviews, and was a featured show at the 2011 Adelaide Cabaret Festival in Adelaide, Australia, and has a Broadway run in the works. Storm was recently in the world premiere of Randy Newman's "Harps And Angels" at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, and with all her free time she has performed several sold-out performances with the Oregon Symphony. She has spent most of the past year as the guest vocalist for Pink Martini, touring the US and Europe. She is also a writer and activist.

Five Pint Mary 5:30pM

Five Pint Mary is Bend’s own hometown Celtic folk-rock band. Upbeat, loud, and rollicking, Five Pint Mary plays their own unique blend of Celtic folk rock with an edge of punk. Drawing from traditional and original Irish/Scottish/New Foundland music by the likes of the Chieftains, the Pogues, the Young Dubliners, Great Big Sea, and Flogging Molly, Five Pint Mary delivers a fresh sound that is rocking and fun.

2012 northWest crossing Farmers Market Saturdays, June 30th-September 22nd 10am-2pm

presented by Just over four years ago, a tiny seed of an idea was planted. What if our neighborhood hosted our very own farmers market? How cool would that be? Fast-forward four years and the NorthWest Crossing Saturday Farmers Market is undeniably in full bloom.

year, the Taste of the Season weekly recipe. Each week a new recipe, using ingredients from market vendors will be featured on our website and Facebook page (be sure to LIKE us to stay in the know!), as well as at the market itself.

A weekly ritual for neighbors and the community at large to shop and interact with local farmers and artisans—and each other— the market has exceeded our expectations. Young and old gather and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of this charming neighborhood market each week throughout the summer.

Much of our market’s success is based on the enthusiastic and hard-working slate of farmers and vendors that serve up fresh produce, meats, cheeses, eggs, flowers, hand-crafted items, and tasty food and drink each week. We’re also grateful to the dedication and year-round work of the C3 Events team for recruiting vendors and coordinating the logistics of the entire season. To our sponsors, partners, neighbors and businesses, thank you for your support of this wonderful event.

Our market stage features talented local, regional and even international entertainers, with sounds that vary each week. Don’t miss our rotation of guest chefs serving up tasty bites and ideas on how to use market bounty in new and unexpected ways. And new this

you to join us each Saturday through September 22nd and experience the soul of the market for yourself.

1/4 cup basil chiffonade (stack leaves, roll in a cigar shape and cut crosswise into thin strips) 1/4 cup coarsely chopped flat-leaf parsley 2 tablespoons olive oil

1 pound Israeli couscous Vegetable stock, heated Hot water, to cover

In a small bowl, whisk together the vinegar, mustard and garlic, slowly add the olive oil and whisk until combined. Season with salt and pepper. Pour 1/2 the marinade over the vegetables and let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes. Preheat the grill. Remove the vegetables from the marinade and grill the vegetables until just cooked through. Cut the zucchini and peppers into 1/2-inch pieces, cut the tomatoes in half. Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat, add the couscous and toast until lightly golden brown. Cover the couscous with the hot stock and hot water and bring to a boil, cook until al dente and drain well. Place in a large serving bowl, add the grilled vegetables and herbs and toss with the remaining vinaigrette. Serve at room temperature.

Compass Park, NorthWest Crossing

presented by Movies shown on the American Family Insurance Dream Theatre With the waning of summer, Munch & Movies picks up with new family friendly festivities starting Friday nights in August. The event officially starts at 6:00pm with live performances by local musicians each night featuring a different musical guest who will double as the MC for the evening. Movies will begin at dusk and include a brief intermission. There will be dinner food, dessert, and kettle korn available from one of many restaurants on site. Come and enjoy free films on the big screen in a beautiful outdoor setting. Be sure to come early to find a good parking spot, and bring a coat as the nights can get chilly. We also recommend you bring a blanket to sit on or a low-backed chair, so it does not block the view of other moviegoers.
