AWARD NICOLE AND BENJAMIN

LABONTE This collaboration between husband and wife is created in McKenzie Bridge, Oregon. Originally born in Maine, they travel the U.S. with their two kids in their camper/home. They find inspiration in the new places they visited and with the people they meet. Both Nicole and Benjamin have a stong connection with outdoors and love nature. Nicole says that, “as artists, we enjoy combining our artistic design and skill sets in the creation of these pieces.” Wild Slice Designs creates a reflection of nature with all of their artwork being made from discarded trees. The trees are sliced into rounds to produce one of a kind works of art. All maintain an organic shape that gives new life to the hanging sculptures; some forms are even created in colored stains. They feel fortunate about having found a medium which expresses both of their artistic views and skillsets as a woodworker and painter. It is very satisfying to use wood that would otherwise be discarded or left to rot, as they give it new life and share it with others. You can find their work on Etsy at wildslicedesigns.etsy.com
