Your guest count will make the largest impact on budget. Cutting cost = cutting down the guest list. When you think of what an impact tables, chairs, linens, table arrangements, invitations, food, and beverages make, cost-cutting is all in relation to your head count. I think the current concept of the “First Lookâ€? is great! This time on the wedding day, a few hours before the FHUHPRQ\ ZKHQ WKH EULGH DQG JURRP Ă€UVW VHH RQH DQRWKHU ZLWK only the photographer present, is an intimate moment between the couple that can reduce any jitters before walking down the aisle in front of all of their closest family and friends. After the photographer captures the First Look, then bridal party and family photography can begin before the ceremony starts. Here’s the bonus—you can knock out all of your family and wedding party pictures before the ceremony and head straight from the ceremony to the reception! This is a HUGE perk! What fun to join your guests right after the ceremony! When should hair and makeup begin? If you are doing a “First Look,â€? ask your photographer or coordinator what time that will take place and count back from there. Your professional stylist will be able to help you determine start time based on the numbers of those getting hair and makeup applied and number of stylists present.

Bonus Question: When traveling for your honeymoon, how should the bride’s name be listed? Shout-out to Natchez Travel—they guided my husband and me when we were preparing for our honeymoon. She carried a bouquet of blush and ivory cabbage roses and hydrangeas wrapped with a handkerchief that belonged to a late great-grandmother of the groom. Attending the bride as her matron of honor was her sister Ada Madelyn Allen Freeman. Bridesmaids were Summer Calhoun and Addison Camp, both cousins of the bride, and friends Leah Barry, Savannah Brister, Laura Beth Wright, Emily Farr, and Jerianna Aron. The groom’s table held a twotiered chocolate cake with chocolate icing, its top layer garnished with chocolate-covered strawberries. Both of the wedding cakes were made by Georgia Blue Bakery. At the end of the evening, the newlyweds made their exit through a shower of sparklers to an old Chevrolet convertible that was provided by one of the groomsmen. The couple honeymooned in Castries, Saint Lucia, and is now living in Brookhaven.

A reception to honor the newlyweds was held at Sikeston Country Club where all were welcomed with a cocktail hour with music by a jazz trio and then entertained by the Fabulous Motown Revue of St. Louis. Susie’s Bake Shop in Sikeston prepared the wedding cakes. The bride’s cake was a four-tiered and columned traditional white wedding cake with butter cream frosting with its pedestal base nestled in a tall, thick cluster of various white roses and white hydrangeas. Between the OD\HUV ZDV D QDUURZHU FOXVWHU RI WKHVH Ă RZHUV DQG D QRVHJD\ RI them crowned the cake. The groom’s cake, a family recipe of the groom’s great-great paternal aunt, was a three-layered, vanillabased cake with a thick, home-made, custard-pecan coating. The newlyweds honeymooned for two weeks in Italy, visiting Tuscany, Florence, and Rome; touring the countryside and wineries, and even learning to make pasta in the home of a welcoming Italian family. Currently, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Taylor are at home in Hernando, Mississippi. Capturing memorable moments of the wedding ceremony and reception was Rachel Moore Photography of Nashville and Victoria Films of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Floral designs for the wedding party, church, and reception were the creations of Helen’s Florist of Sikeston. The bride’s hair was fashioned by The Hair Loft of Sikeston and her make-up by April Epps of Jackson, Mississippi, and Memphis, Tennessee. All invitations and programs were designed by Jana Alford and printed by Natchez Printing The evening before the wedding, the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at River Ridge Winery in Commerce, Missouri. Guests were welcomed to a European Bistro themed setting under the trees with strings of lights above, a guitarist playing in the background, and black-and-white dÊcor, white candles, lanterns, wine-cork-lined vessels holding white roses, pictures of the couple, and antlers, a nod to the groom’s hunting hobby. The groom’s cake, made by Carmen Montpelier of Jonesville, featured an assortment of cheesecakes with various toppings. Guests enjoyed the music of After 8 of Baton Rouge until well into the night. Angela Groce of Unveiled Radiance in Monroe served as the photographer for the event. The night ended with the bride and groom exiting the reception through a tunnel of sparklers. The newlyweds honeymooned in San Pedro, Belize, and are now at home in New Orleans. The night before the wedding, the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Natchez Architectural and Art Discoveries in Natchez where guests enjoyed a buffet and beverages while listening to the music of Will Carter of Natchez. The groom and his attendants and close friends spent the day of the wedding at a hunting camp while the bride and her party were treated to a brunch, featuring Bloody Marys along with shrimp and grits prepared by her father. Sissy Eidt of Everything Fancee Catering catered the event. Entertainment was provided by the band “Creativity� of Atlanta, Georgia. The newlyweds exited the reception through an aisle of gold streamer wands and departed by horse-drawn carriage provided by Vines Carriages. The bride’s New Orleans culinary background ensured unforgettable cuisine by friends of the couple and co-chefs Caitlyn and Marcus Carney, owners of Marjie’s Grill in New Orleans. Marinated crab claws, grilled shrimp, and Thai-style Ceviche shooters along with slow-grilled pork ULEV DQG FKDUUHG IUHVK JXOI ÀVK VHUYHG RQ the half-shell were some of the delicacies featured as well as coal-roasted sweet potatoes, grilled mixed vegetables, and the couple’s favorite, a seasonal Sam Tam salad. James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Beth Biundo, owner of Beth Biundo Sweets in New Orleans, created five stunning cakes for her friends and included almond browned butter, passion fruit, chocolate with salted caramel, triple chocolate, and coconut rum. The cake knife the couple used was the same sterling knife the bride’s parents had used for their 1982 wedding. For their champagne toast, the couple used a handmade wedding toasting goblet by well-known Holmesville, Mississippi, artist Robert Acardo. This wedding gift was carved from spalted holly and featured double encapsulated wooden rings on the stem. It was made from the wood of the old Holmesville Courthouse, in which the bride’s family has deep roots. The wooden rings were a nod to an old

Hospitality bags for out-of-town guests included handmade New Orleans macaroons, tiny bottles of Tabasco, Zapps Voodoo chips, personalized water bottles, and custom door tags. Dear family friend Sheila Cowart of Madison, Mississippi, created the bags and custom ribbons featuring Mississippi moss. An Instax Photo room was set up for guests to take photos with their phones, using fun photo frames, to capture favorite moments from the evening and then print them and hang copies in the room as well as take the photographs with them when they left. This midcentury modern home was built by the Solomon family who built the Solomon Theater at the World War II Museum in New Orleans. The Smith home was featured in a prior Bluffs & Bayous edition. A “Brunch & Bubbly� out-of-town brunch was held in the Chartres Street former carriage house turned courtyard in the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter and home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Price. Friends and family members hosted the wedding party and out-of-town guests at this event that featured a jazz combo and amazing NOLA brunch delicacies in the double courtyards. On the eve of the wedding the groom’s parents hosted a lavish garden rehearsal dinner at the historic Terrell Guest House on Magazine Street. Built in 1857, the mansion is now a bed-and-breakfast inn owned by a Mississippi family. Returning to their favorite cottage in Dijon, France, the couple spent their honeymoon exploring vineyards and markets, visiting with friends, and enjoying their favorite pastime, cooking. The couple has made their home in McComb.

Parents of the bride are the late Michele Bailey of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Robby and Windy Robinson of Purvis, Mississippi. Her grandparents are Charlie Jean Dillard and the late Glen Dillard of Hattiesburg, Bonnie Morse and the late J. O. Morse, and the late Levon and Doris Robinson, all of the Hattiesburg area. The groom’s parents are the Reverend LaDon and Darlene Dawson, formerly of Brooklyn, Mississippi, now of Vicksburg. The bridal bouquet was blue and burgundy silk hydrangeas and ivory roses with dandelions (for making wishes). The bride’s attendants were Bobbi Anderson of Hattiesburg; Nichole Cartwright of Vicksburg; and Christy Hayes of Madison, Mississippi. Also attending the bride were the couple’s daughters, Daley Dawson, Kaylee Hoeft, Lea Hoeft, Indy Hutto, and Candalynn Dawson, all of Vicksburg. Four attendants wore off-the-shoulder gowns of blue, and the other four wore similar dresses of burgundy. They carried bouquets of silk hydrangeas of the color opposite from their dresses; and they wore rose-gold necklaces with pearl “peas in a pod,â€? given to them by the couple. The daughters also wore rose-gold-and-pearl necklaces. The groom’s father served as his best man. Groomsmen were Larry *UDKDP RI 9LFNVEXUJ DQG WKH EULGH¡V IDWKHU 7KH JURRPVPHQ DQG RIĂ€FLDQW all wore blue Wrangler jeans and white button-up shirts, gifts from the bridal couple. In addition, the groom wore a cowhide vest. “The Oneâ€? was played before the couple shared their personally written vows; and instead of a unity candle, they chose to say a unity prayer which included all of their girls. The barn, set up and decorated by the bride, groom, and family members, served as the perfect backdrop for the reception. WedGLQJ DQG UHFHSWLRQ GHFRUDWLRQV DQG Ă RZHUV ZHUH FUHDWHG E\ many family members with Kaylee Hoeft creating the various signs for the event. Guests signed a cypress plank as the guest book, which now hangs at the couples’ home. Danny Anderson played a variety of songs requested by guests. Jennifer Garraway created the three-tiered wedding cake adorned with blue and burgundy silk hydrangeas; and the bride’s grandmother fashioned the groom’s blueberryzucchini cake. Reception food was lovingly prepared by the bride, groom, family, and friends for all to enjoy. A tractor ZLWK LWV IURQW HQG EXFNHW Ă€OOHG ZLWK VRIW GULQNV DQG ZDWHU bottles served as a photo opportunity, adding to the country-farm theme. Wedding favors were Moon Pies and wooden ornaments cut from a cypress tree and signed by both the

couple and all their daughters in remembrance of their “happily-everafter” day. The sign accompanying the Moon Pies read, “I love you in the morning and in the afternoon. I love you in the evening and underneath the moon.” Larry Walker of Vicksburg captured the special day in a multitude of photos. Since this was a second marriage for both the bride and groom, they included their daughters in all phases of planning their creative, budgetminded wedding. At the rehearsal, the bride and groom surprised their

girls with rose-gold rings which complemented their necklaces to show their commitment to the girls as “extra” parents. The newly married couple enjoyed a week-long honeymoon in Branson, Missouri, with a visit to Silver Dollar City where the groom participated in a saloon show. They explored Top of the Rock with its beautiful scenery, ziplined through the mountains, rode the mountain coaster, and dined on Table Rock Lake during a dinner cruise of the showboat Branson Belle.

Currently, they are at home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Concluding the reception, the couple departed through a jazz Second Line send-off toward their eventual honeymoon in Key West, Florida. They are now at home in New Orleans. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the newlyweds recessed to Alvin Shelby’s cover of “All You Need Is Loveâ€? by The Beatles and took family pictures as well as couple portraits. The celebration continued with a wedding reception at the antebellum home The Briars. In this spacious venue, the wedding party along with other family members and guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails as toasts went round from the bride’s father, the best man, the maid of honor, and other friends. Once the couple cut their wedding cake, the reception moved outside to a tent overlooking the Mississippi River for a night of food, drink, and dance to the tunes of VooDoo Entertainment Services of Ball, Louisiana. Guests entered the church to the music of an area string quartet composed of David Goldblatt, Larry Koenke, DeWayne Tailor, and David Troutman. Soloist Tremaine Ford captivated the congregation with his rendering of “Surely the Presence” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” The videographer was Plugged-In Creative of Monroe, Louisiana. Following the ceremony, the bridal party boarded the Natchez Trolley for the ride to the reception at antebellum Dunleith Historic Inn. Upon their arrival, the couple toasted one another and their guests and then cut their cakes, both fashioned by Edna Welch of Natchez. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Carriage House on the grounds of antebellum Stanton Hall with Chef Bingo Starr preparing a delicious meal for all. Earlier that day, family and friends hosted a luncheon at Monmouth Historic Inn for the bride and her attendants. The day of the wedding, the bride and her bridesmaids enjoyed mimosas and light snacks at Dunleith while having their hair styled by Tinka Cox and Melissa Marks Partin of Anruss & Company in Natchez. Make-up was by Verde Salon of Baton Rouge. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen enjoyed a casual lunch at the bride’s family cabin at Prospect Hill near Natchez, which was also the setting for one of the couple’s first dates and, thereafter, for the groom’s proposal. Following the wedding, the couple enjoyed a short getaway to New Orleans, Louisiana, and later honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They are now at home in Baton Rouge.

After dinner, toasts, and fun stories of the past, outof-town guests and close friends arrived to enjoy the blues of local talent YZ Ealey. On the day of the rehearsal dinner, a champagne brunch at Stanton Hall was hosted by dear friends of the bride and bride’s mother, Betsy Isles, Caroline Isles, Emily Maxwell, Laurie Pere, Jennifer Slover, Noelle Speed, Jana Carpenter and Lisa Carpenter. On the morning after the wedding, parents of the bride and groom hosted a brunch at Hotel Vue where out-of-town guests could visit and say their good-byes to the new couple. The bridal bouquet was awash with color from the mocha rose, burgundy dahlia, and scabiosa interspersed with ivory garden rose and white ranunculus. Lemon leaf and Italian ruscus accents wrapped in ivory satin ribbon completed the look. All bouquets and table arrangements were created by Katie Loyd of Boukates of Atlanta. Matrons of Honor were two of the bride’s Mississippi State University friends, Brittany McGaha Finney of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kayla McKenzie Maffei of New Orleans, Louisiana. In due time, guests found their place cards with table assignments and returned to the venue area for an evening of dinner and dancing. The scrumptious dinner buffet was catered by Endive Fine Catering of Atlanta. The three-tiered, semi-frosted wedding cake, adorned by mixed

DJ Joel Rabe with Lethal Rhythms Entertainment Group of Atlanta kept the bridal party and guests on their feet with a wide variety of dance tunes. A big hit with guests was the photo booth station with all its hats, masks, and boas, also provided by Lethal Rhythms Entertainment Group. The wedding signage and ceremony program were created by the bride’s aunt, Anita Schilling of Vicksburg, along with Baton Rouge, Louisiana, cousin Amanda Brice’s input, and implemented by the bride. Photographer, Laura Stone of Laura Stone Photos of Atlanta, captured a lifetime of memories during the wedding and reception. The videographer was another of the many services provided by Lethal Rhythms Entertainment Group. The wedding rehearsal was held Thursday evening, October 25, at Loew’s Hotel followed by the rehearsal dinner for immediate family and attendants at Princi Italia Atlanta. Saturday morning, the groom’s father hosted a post-wedding brunch at Publico Atlanta in Midtown Atlanta for extended family and friends who traveled from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Pennsylvania, California, and Costa Rica. For an exciting honeymoon trip to South Africa, the couple toured the port city of Cape Town and visited the Cape of Good Hope and Boulder Beach, home of African penguins. Joe and Jasmine Fleece and their adorable goldendoodle Wade have recently moved from Atlanta, Georgia, to Houston, Texas, where Joe is employed as CFO at Jones Companies.
