BABLAKE JUNIOR IN YEAR 3

“SAFETY FIRST”

Welcome Year 3 to the Milton Keynes Safety Centre

We saw how we measured up to new laws We learnt how to stay safe near water

I will put in the box..

I will put in the box..

a turquoise sapphire ocean shimmering like the sky raining with diamonds, woolly clouds as puffy as candyfloss on a fairground day, Coucals swooping down like a paraglider flying in France. I will put in the box, two Italian masks as beautiful as pearls under the ocean, firecrackers are drawing colourful pictures in the moonlight, people are chatting in my brain like ants hurrying for food.

a sparkling swimming pool as clear as the mid morning sky, a full makeover standing out like the one star in the never ending night, the taste of spicy chicken flavour noodles like the great view of the crashing sea. I will put in the box.. a talking robot as vast as a towering volcano, the lovely smell of new petrol as strong as fresh vinegar, the sight of the deep, rocky sea off the pier as light as the pale blue gem.

I will put in the box..

I will put in my box..

an alien as green as the purist evergreen leaves, a bed as big as the world and as soft as a feather bed, a raging snowstorm as white as clouds. I will put in the box, the memory of a robot as clever as 1000 computers, a smell so lovely like perfume, the colour of Mars as bright as a blazing fire ball. I will put in the box, a black hole as dark as the midnight sky, all the riches in the world as shiny as a golden sun, a bottomless pit as dark as space with no stars.

a swish of a piece of silky hair as smooth as a Siamese cat, a red ruby rose as red as a bright poppy, a vast carpet of scented bluebells that covers the ground. I will put in my box, a dazzling rainbow as colourful as Joseph’s multi-coloured coat, a pretty pink penguin as pink as a girl’s pink rosy cheeks, the sweet tweet of a cute robin that is so gorgeous.

It was the best science day ever. I’ve never had so much fun. The best part was the 3D glasses and checking people’s body temperature. I think that I’ll never have a science lesson as fun as that one ever again! All thanks to Coventry University. Matthew Holmes

Unfortunately both U11 Netball Tournaments were cancelled this term, the Foremark Hall due to frozen courts and the Rugby School Tournament due to lack of interest!

We have held two Netball Shooting Competitions this term which have proved very popular with the Year 5 and Year 6 girls, especially the chocolate prizes. Rumour has it that the boys are happy to enter next time! As the season draws to a close we look back on a most successful year. I wish all our U11players good luck in their netball careers at their new schools and I look forward to coaching our present Year 3, 4 & 5 girls next September.

Tuesday 8 April Summer Term Begins

The talented U11 A Team have made excellent progress throughout the year. Despite injury to one of their players they defeated a Bablake Senior Team 9-6, The Crescent 8-3, Coventry Prep 11-5, Crackley Hall 12-1 and narrowly lost 5-7 to a strong Warwick Prep side.

The U11 B team have improved considerably this term with several players promoted to the A Team Squad. They suffered a defeat to Warwick Prep but the Bablake players remained positive throughout and gained valuable experience. For two Year 6 girls this was also their “debut” match.

ISSUE 5 SPRING 2008

Bablakediary

Several matches have been played this term. The U9 Team playing only their second ever match secured a nail biting 2-1 victory against Coventry Prep much to the delight of the Bablake supporters. Our parents seemed to be more exhausted than the players at the end of the match. The U10 Team won two of their three games this term. An impressive 11-3 victory over Warwick Prep and a closer 7-8 victory over The Crescent School was the result of good team work. It was pleasing to add a further two players to the squad.

NEWS & VIEWS FROM BABLAKE JUNIOR SCHOOL

Saturday 26 - Monday 28 April

Well done to everyone who took part and particularly the individual winners: Adam Keir, Daisy Williams, George Bayliss and Eleanor Bonas and to the winning house: Churchill

Pupils give help and support to a very important member of the Bablake Family.......

I am sure you all know about Malcolm Martin, our caretaker, and have heard his remarkable story. Malcolm was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer last year and his outlook was not good. Luckily, with the care and treatment he received at University Hospital Coventry, he has made an amazing recovery. As a way of thanking those who helped him, he decided to do some fundraising to buy equipment for the ward where he was so well looked after. When our pupils found out about Malcolm’s appeal it came as no surprise to me that everyone was very keen to become involved in helping him. Since January each year group in turn has been busy planning a variety of charity events. Year 5 started us off in a spectacular way with an amazing array of cakes which raised lots of money. Next, Year 6 came up loads of events including a Penalty Shoot-out, a cake sale and, “Guess the Name of the Teddies”. After half term Year 3 kept things going well with a popular sweet tombola and finally Year 4 held a raffle and then a cinema and popcorn event. This was very popular! Malcolm sends a big thank you for everyones’ hard work and support in a letter which concludes… “I love this school”. Well, we love you Malcolm and wish you and Sue all the very best and a very Happy Easter.

Dear Mr Price,

Dear Mr Price,

I am writing this letter to thank you for having me at this school and putting all of us first in Bablake Junior School.

I’m writing to you because I want to let you know about the brilliant things we do at Bablake Junior School. I have just got into the Football team and I have made lots of friends. I have just been here for 4 months. Miss Love is my teacher. I have a best friend.

First of all I would like to tell you what I like about this school. But, before I tell you that, I want to thank you for my education. Now I am going to tell you what I like about the school . I like the teachers and how they encourage us through our education. My favourite subject is Art. I like it so much because it is fun to do. You will be interested to know that when my mum asks me “how was school?” I say it was great and I never say I had a bad day. I would like to point out that I enjoy all of your clubs and how the teachers make the clubs fun for you. I would like to thank you again for my education and I will always continue at this school. When I leave I will have so many memories of this wonderful school. Yours Sincerely, Ria Patel

I’m very good at Maths. I have learnt different languages to say when answering the register. Do you think Bablake Junior school is lovely? I do J.A.M. club and football club. I play for Marsdon Green. In History, I am doing about Romans. Before we did about Romans we learnt about Egypt. I am very happy to be at Bablake Junior school. I can’t wait to play Rugby. I like being at this school. Yours Sincerely, Lewis Faulkner
