The Austin Daily Herald has been publishing since 1891. Back then, Austin had four newspapers. The Herald has moved locations a couple of times due to a fire and different owners over the years, but we have remained in Austin for over 125 years. While some of the business has changed, one thing has remained the same-we are still your local community newspaper. Today we are a strong multimedia company not only having the newspaper, but also digital, social media presence, and our Austin Living magazine. We have our newspapers delivered Tuesday-Saturday through the US postal service. This has worked out well for us and the readers. The first copy of the Herald published on Nov. 9, 1891, and the newspaper was five cents. Today, the newspaper is 50 cents and $1.50 on Saturdays. The newspaper still has several local advertisers and many inserts. We strive to have local content. The Herald staff is

busy covering city, county, and school board meetings. We are in the schools focusing on all of the things that the students are doing. We cover local courts and crime. Sports keeps Rocky busy; he is always at some sporting event. He doesn’t cover just Austin, but also the area sports. The Herald reporters sit at those long meetings to give you the information that you need and want to know. We have our niche publications that we continue to publish: our annual Progress edition that comes out in February, Southern Exposure, and Discover Summer. We partner with a lot of community events like the Austin Artworks, the Chamber, Discover Austin, several newsletters that go out in our communities, and the Austin Public Schools calendar.

When we talk multimedia, this is where the Herald has grown. Many readers enjoy getting their paper on the go. We offer our 24/7 news access on our website. You get 10 free stories for free per month. With a $6 per month subscription, you get unlimited access to our website plus the E-edition of the Austin Daily Herald. We have our e-blast that comes out Monday-Friday. This is an emailed version of the newspaper. This is free to sign up. Austin Living is a popular magazine that we have been publishing for over seven years. This magazine is published six times a year. Are you ready for the holiday? Need some ideas to jump your start to the holidays? The next issue will be our holiday issue and will be published at the end of this month. Stop by our office and pick up a copy.
