The first mandala (pictured left) contains the first twenty-one ‘pathways’ [NThYB, bytn = 462] of the Teli [ylt] spiraling ‘serpent cycle’ of Jacob’s Wheel. The letter pairings are termed ‘pathways’ because they represent the 462 left and right pathways of entry through the 231 ‘gates’. So pathway ‘A-B’ is quite different to pathway ‘B-A’. This important principle is described in verse 2:5 (quoted below). There are 462 pathways within Jacob’s Wheel, but 21 of those pathways are concealed at the centre of the Wheel(s). The repeating Teli spiral-cycle is comprised of the remaining 441 ‘revealed’ pathways (or ‘phases’). Alef with them all and all of them with Alef, Bet with them all and all of them with Bet. They repeat in a cycle and exist in 231 Gates.

The first phase of the cycle is Moon-Uranus (R-X), followed by Moon-Saturn (R-W), and then Moon-Jupiter (R-V), etc. The Moon ‘rules’ the first cycle from its ‘concealed’ place at the centre of the mandala.
