ASthought architecture from concept to built form
Our main goal is to describe the design process, the architectural solutions and the detailing choices of a built work in a chronological order. The dream – that is also the ambition – is to tune at the best the structure of this on-line manual and to spread around its template in order to amplify the power of collecting and publishing in a such huge way that in a few years we could arrive at the largest open source and most browsed utility for architectural students not only in Europe.

Project Description

ASthought
The presbytery has been completely redeveloped retaining the structural configuration but opening the curtain that originally defined two small altars and eliminating some service areas that, embedded in the presbytery, enrich the spatial articulation and depth.
It was made a cleanup by removing all the decorations devoid of any artistic or craft, to create a neutral space that serves as the backdrop to the few significant presence in terms of figurative and liturgical.
A new lantern on the roof with a large window and an overhead interior finish gold leaf has allowed the space dark and austere in a place with an abundant presence of light.
A light stone has been used for the floor, whilst the walls are totally white.
A curtain slabs of onyx laminated backlit another ten meters is the focal point of the meeting, with the altar and the new skylight, is a direct reference to the theme of the Trinity. The altar, ambo, tabernacle and other elements that characterize the sites of the liturgy were made by cutting and digging a single block of white onyx conceptually reassembled by combining the image of strength with that of transparency and of the ethereal.
The new aisle, realized occupying the section of the existing porch in a single opening belt has involved the construction of a structural beam of 18 meters of light that allows to connect in sequence the main liturgical function: that part of Penitenzeria and new confessional, the new source battersimale illuminated from above, and a wood-panelled grandonata area used to house the choir.
