YES

WE SAY TO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY In a world where inequality and injustice are widespread and many textile manufacturers turn a blind eye, we at Segers prefer to confront the issues head on. And resolve them too. All too often we hear of how companies use suppliers that violate human rights or are otherwise involved in unethical practices. At Segers, we want to be a leader in bringing about change. Whether you are a purchaser or a consumer, you are entitled to know where and how our clothes have been produced. CSR is a natural and integral part of our business – it is about showing respect and consideration and recognising our responsibility towards society.

WORKWEAR THAT GIVES YOU A CLEAR CONSCIENCE You are welcome to compare us with other textile companies. While most others are refusing to face up to the reality of the world, we at Segers are saying YES to social responsibility. We have a Code of Conduct. That's why we hope that when you buy our clothes, you do so with a clear conscience. It is a small but significant step towards to a fairer and more equal world.

WHAT IS CSR? Corporate Social Responsibility is essentially a concept whereby companies voluntarily decide to contribute to a better society and a cleaner environment. It involves taking actions that extend beyond regulatory and legal requirements. The idea is that corporate social responsibility can be of direct economic value.

Segers Fabriker AB has used Swerea IVF to certify its production in compliance with STeP. By doing so, it is the first company in Sweden to have received this certification. Oeko-Tex® STeP stands for "Sustainable Textile Production" and means sustainable production in terms of environmental impact, quality and conditions in the workplace. STeP is a voluntary certification system for companies and manufacturers from the textile chain who want to assure the quality of their production and show publicly that they take responsibility for the way the products are manufactured. “Certification means that Segers Fabriker can now offer their customers a long-term guarantee in terms of contributing to a more sustainable society,” says Mats Lundin, Managing Director of Swerea IVF. "This is especially so since STeP covers both environmental impact and employee working conditions. Segers, which manufactures workwear for the hotel, restaurant and healthcare sectors, has already decided to certify its clothing in compliance with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100. By receiving STeP certification, we have now gone one step further.

FEEL AT EASE! Since 1992, the Öko-Tex Standard 100 has become an international measure of reliability throughout the entire fabrics chain. The Öko-Tex system ensures that fabrics that have passed the tests and been certified do not contain harmful substances. The list of requirements contains over 100 test parameters to ensure that the fabrics are not harmful.

ENVIRONMENT OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY Segers Fabriker is a textile company that produces lightweight workwear, and it has long been our goal to reduce our impact on the environment. To enable the longterm development of our company in line with changing environmental requirements, we will: • Provide all our employees with sufficient information and knowledge to enable them to undertake their work in an environmentally sound manner. • Choose suppliers and partners according to our own environmental standards and thereby put pressure on companies and authorities with whom we interact. • Do all that we can to make the best use of our resources and coordinate our work as far as possible to minimise the wastage of resources. • Stay abreast of research and developments in the environmental field, particularly those related to textiles. • Make environmental issues part of our long-term investment strategy and give priority to preventive actions. • Maintain and develop our environmental management system and its practices so that we continue to make improvements in our environmental performance. • Comply with the legislation and standards to which our company is subject.

SEGERS WORKS ACTIVELY Segers is part of the Chemicals Group that regularly monitors the registration and evaluation of new and old substances that are fabricrelated to ensure that the products do not pose any health risks to you as a customer. More info is available from the National Chemicals Inspectorate; visit www.kemi.se/reach For more info about the Chemicals Group, visit http://extra.ivf.se/kemi/

PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITY By having this certification, we at Segers accept our responsibility as a producer and are committed to helping Sweden become one of the best recycling countries in the world. Sweden introduced producer responsibility for packaging in 1994. This means that any company which manufactures, imports or sells packaging is responsible for the collection and recycling of its packaging.

REACH - a new chemical regulation for a non-toxic environment The REACH set of regulations on chemicals came into force on 1 June 2007 and thereby replaced most of the chemical legislation and regulations that had previously applied in Sweden and the European Union. The objective of the REACH regulations is the protection of human health and the environment from the risks related to chemicals. The REACH regulations require professional users and consumers to be given new and important information about the chemical substances they are using. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals and provides a single system for chemicals regulation within the European Union.

Pressure on companies REACH is based on the principle that it is the responsibility of manufacturers, importers and downstream users to make sure that the substances they produce, place on the market or use do not harm human health or the environment. There are specific rules for registration of chemicals, and some 30,000 substances are to be registered before 2018 at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki.

SEGERS' ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT Recent years have seen environmental issues come to the fore, and today these issues have a prominent place in our business concept. Our customers are becoming more and more environmentally committed, which is reflected in their purchases of clothing. They require their suppliers to be environmentally certified. That is why we began to introduce the ISO 14001 environmental management system in November 1998. ISO certification was completed in May 2000.
