In the service of gastronomy since 1943 Gustav Segerqvist moved into town to work as a carpenter. Gustav said goodbye to construction work, bought a bike and a suitcase and set out to sell goods... Segers' history starts in 1943, when Gustav Segerqvist established a ready-made garments business. Gustav's father had been a door-to-door salesman, so commerce was in the family's blood. Gustav ran the business for several decades until 1978, when daughter Mona took it over. She began to focus more on the production of lightweight workwear, particularly for restaurants, where Mona soon built personal relationships with the chefs of the day. Production was spread across small units in the immediate locality, mainly in the form of home dressmakers. In 1984, son Roger took over the reins at Segers. This was the starting point for the development of Segers that has led to the company's strong market position today. The company opened its first factory in 1996, in Estonia, followed in 2006 by another production facility in Ukraine. Today, Segers owns the entire production chain, from manufacturing in their own factories to in-house design and product development, and â&#x20AC;&#x201C; as we have for 40 years â&#x20AC;&#x201C; in close partnership with our customers. Segers celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2013, and established new sales offices in Estonia (for the Baltic market) and the Netherlands (for the Benelux countries).

Winners 1983-2013 from the 30th anniversary

Chef of the Year – a success story The Chef of the Year competition was started in 1983 by Svensk Mjölk (Swedish dairy companies' trade association) together with Gastronomiska Akademien (Academy of Gastronomy) and with the support of the late Swedish master chef Tore Wretman. It was immediately apparent that this was a definite culinary success that would raise the status of professional chefs as well as the reputation of Nordic cuisine. In preparation for the Chef of the Year's 30th anniversary, Segers worked with chefs from Föreningen Årets Kock (Chef of the Year association) to develop a commemorative jacket.

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an international system of inspection and certification to ensure this. In 2012, we expanded our collection to include garments in organic cotton. REACH The REACH chemical legislation and regulations protect us and the environment from chemical hazards. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, and provides a single system for chemicals regulation within the European Union. Segers belongs to the textile industry's Chemicals Group in order to remain at the forefront regarding information about new and existing chemicals linked to textiles and to ensure that products do not pose health risks. Organic cotton The definition for garments in "organic cotton" is: the cotton is grown and the fabric manufactured up to final production in compliance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) criteria. Final production is covered by the Oeko-Tex certificate.
