Time to celebrate: Norlington students had good reason to be pleased as they opened their results at the school in August

Students make history with best-ever results THE school celebrated a record-breaking year for exam results as our students exceeded expectation to score top grades. At GCSE, we celebrated our best results in the school’s history despite having to contend with a new tougher numerical grading system. More than one third of all grades were at the top 7 to 9 levels, or A to A* under the old system. Some 30 per cent of students received five or more level 7 to 9 grades, while two thirds achieved a level 5 or higher in both maths

and English. Early analysis indicates pupils made significantly more progress in every single subject than is expected under national guidelines. Meanwhile at A-Level, our sixth form continued to build on last year’s success by registering even stronger results this year. All students who sat A-Levels have either been awarded an apprenticeship or gained a place at university, with many heading to prestigious institutions. Our Principal Mr Hernandez said: “We are

very proud of the results our students have achieved. Their commitment and hard work has paid off. “At GCSE, more than a third of all grades were at level 7 to 9 or A to A* and over a third of students achieved at least a grade above expected across all GCSEs. “These results build on several years of outstanding outcomes.” “We are also very proud of all our sixth form students as they take their next step in their lives.”

I did not take English at A-Level but all the English teachers were still were very happy to help me with my personal statement.” Other students from our sixth form have accepted places at top universities to study subjects including economics, biology, architecture and computer science.

Umar Ali was among a number of our students who scored 7 to 9 grades, the equivalent of A* or A, in all subjects.

Students can be proud of results

Abdur’s success all down to his teachers’ advice

Waltham Forest Councillor Khevyn Limbajee (left) says he was proud to share our students’ success on GCSE results day. have worked incredibly hard to achieve such great success. From a personal point of view, it was wonderful to join

these students as they opened their results. They have done themselves, the school and the whole of Waltham Forest proud. This school continues to go from strength to strength, which is very positive for these students but also our entire community.

Norlington has achieved a fantastic set of results. It is brilliant to see so many of the boys achieve and exceed their expectations. All credit goes to the teachers and the staff. It is great to have a school like this in our area. I know the staff at this school

YEAR 11 Abdur Rahman Chowdhury says wise advice from teachers helped motivated him to a clean sweep of top results. He said his teachers continually demanded an ethic of hard work, promising that it would pay dividends later. He achieved all 7 to 9 grades, the equivalent of A* or A, in all subjects to secure a place to study A-Levels. He said: “When I looked at my results I was glad that I had done so well – my teachers have always said ‘work hard now and it will pay off later’ and they have been proven right today. “They have always been here with us since the day we first came to this school, supporting us and giving up their free time and they were as happy as we were to see us do so well.”
