ANTHONY FIELDMAN - Partner, Architect / DIALOG

Anthony builds on nearly 30 years as a practicing architect. With a reputation for looking beyond prevailing norms to focus instead on what’s possible, his approach to design is without constraints. Anthony’s body of work across typologies and geographies reflects his innate curiosity, and has been widely recognized, exhibited, and published. He has won more than 50 international design awards. Included among these notable projects are the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Maryland, Hong Kong International Airport –Terminal Two, New York City Police Academy, and the Kuwait University College of Education, which earned an award at the prestigious World Architecture Festival. Before joining our practice, Anthony served as National Design Director and Board of Directors Member at a global design firm, based in Toronto. Prior to that, he founded and ran his own design firm, was a Principal and Design Director, and an Associate Partner and Lead Designer for two global practices, all while based in New York City. In these roles, Anthony became a renowned thought leader, authoring many of each practice’s most innovative commissions.

AARON ALTERMAN Curtain Wall & Facade Specialist / STI Specified Technologies

Aaron is a Curtain Wall & Façade Specialist for the Strategic Accounts Division of STI Specified Technologies, covering the central United States and Canada. Aaron joined STI Specified Technologies in 2015 and has over 30 years of experience in construction materials. He has conducted firestop trainings for STI, The International Firestop Council and to a variety of groups including; architects, engineers, consultants, code officials, inspectors and all types of trades. He is certified at Level 2 of Firestop Instructional Training (FIT II).

MARK BEREST Principal / B+H Architects

Mark Berest joined B+H in 2003 and was appointed Principal in 2011. He’s been involved in the practice of architecture since 1987 and is a LEED Accredited Professional. In the course of his 28-year career, Mark has developed expertise in healthcare, postsecondary, sports and recreation, residential, commercial, accessible, and sustainable design. He’s led the development and success of the B+H Sport Practice. Mark has extensive experience in all aspects of the profession, from project level to professional business leadership, with a focus on the management and design of complex, large-scale projects. He has broad experience with an array of Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) models serving as project lead on both the proponent and compliance sides.

TIM COLDWELL President / Chandos Construction

Tim Coldwell is a Mohawk entrepreneur focused on leading by serving, culture, and the monetization of ideas. He serves as President of Chandos, a purpose driven national technical builder leading change in the Canadian construction industry. Chandos is the largest B-Corp certified contractor in the world and is proud to be one hundred percent employee owned. We believe value is created when leaders combine the power of purpose with existing business models to solve the world’s greatest problems.

ROB CLAIRBORNE Partner / DIALOG

Robert is an award-winning architect with more than 25 years of international experience, particularly in civic, cultural, and urban spaces. His commitment to architecture and authentically understanding each project comes from a deep interest in the challenges and opportunities of our time. Robert’s work relates architecture to the forces that influence each project. By engaging site and environment, program, context, and client, he finds unique and inspired design responses to these conditions that allow each building to express a greater cultural meaning. A consistent voice for the confluence between architecture and the arts, his approach reinforces the role of creativity as a catalyst for building more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive communities.

KELLY ALVAREZ DORAN, OAA, MRAIC Director—Ha/f Research Studio University of

Toronto

Kelly leads MASS Design Group’s London studio, overseeing work in East Africa and Europe. He joined MASS in 2014 to lead its Kigali office and grew the practice from eight employees to 80 over a five year period. Kelly has led the design and implementation of several of MASS’s projects across East Africa, notably the awardwinning Munini District Hospital and Rwanda Ministry of Health’s Typical Hospital Plans; headquarters for both the One Acre Fund and Andela in Kenya; and the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Toronto, a recipient of the Canada Council’s Prix de Rome for Emerging Practitioners, and has held teaching positions at the Bartlett School of Architecture, Harvard University, and the University of Waterloo.

Angela Mejorin

Postdoctoral Researcher / Western University

Postdoctoral researcher in wind engineering and building technology, with a focus on building envelope and façade design. Angela Mejorin is a designated expert for ISO, ASTM, CEN, and UNI standards development Committees. In 2022 she obtained a double Ph.D. from Western University (Canada) and Iuav University (Italy), with a thesis entitled “Wind-Borne Debris Resistance of Facades: Identification of Alternative Impact Test Requirements”. She has been involved in research activities related to tall buildings since 2017, when she joined the CTBUH Research Office at Iuav University for the research on “Cyclone-Glazing and Facade Resilience for the Asia-Pacific Region”.

IAN MOUNTFORT Principal / Blackwell

Ian Mountfort joined Blackwell in 1999, and became an associate in 2005 and a principal in 2008. He studied at McGill University in Montreal, where he obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in structural engineering.
