The Architect’s Newspaper is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our publication, and the 11th year of our Facades+ Conference. HENRY CANTWELL - Director / NELSON

With over 30 years of Architectural experience, I partner with clients during programming to define the project goals in terms of use, budget, and quality. I lead Clients in exploration of various options to best achieve the stated goals and set the direction to ensure the successful completion of their projects to obtain those goals. I have a Bachelor of Architecture from New York Institute of Technology. I am involved with the Architectural Quality Improvement Committee that researches the latest trends in building science and how they are applied in practice. As the studio leader, I work with the project teams to create a consist repeatable project format to achieve success in design, efficiency in project execution, and quality control.

TOM ARSOVSKI - Regional Mixed-Use Leader / NELSON

Tom is the Regional Mixed Use Leader for the Southeast specializing in Mixed-Use and Multi- Family Residential Design and Development. He has a broad knowledge of retail / mixed-use planning and construction as well as strength in strategic thinking and relationship management. For Tom, collaboration and gathering input from various sources is the best approach to innovative design, building his teams around that approach – crossing timelines and sometimes the globe to deliver best in practice solutions.

ABERNETHY

Lauren Abernethy is a vice president of marketing at the Braves Development Company, with the Atlanta Braves. She is responsible for the strategic marketing direction of The Battery Atlanta, including marketing development and special events programming in efforts to increase customer traffic, tenant sales, digital footprint, and creating mutually beneficial relationships with the surrounding business community. Lauren has over 20 years of experience in program development, public relations, and strategic marketing across the Southeast.

ALEX CHAMPAGNE

Alex joined New South Construction in 2013 and works as a senior preconstruction manager overseeing all preconstruction efforts for the firm’s active multifamily market. Alex enjoys collaborating with the design team and leading her internal team on projects from conceptual design to the beginning of construction. Within the industry, Alex has been involved with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Young Leadership Program for eight years where she served as a council member until 2022.

Kat Chan is a Senior Associate at Walter P Moore. Her past project experience includes: Safdie Architect’s Singapore Changi Airport newest terminal, Grimshaw’s Sustainability Pavilion for the Dubai World Expo, and Studio Gang’s Gilder Center and the expansion to New York City’s American Museum of Natural History. Her current projects include the ThyssenKrupp Elevator Tower and Headquarters in Atlanta, GA by Gensler and Omaha Performing Arts Center by Ennead in Omaha, NE.

REBECCA CHURIO Senior Project Manager / NELSON

Rebecca is a senior project manager at NELSON Worldwide. She specializes in mixed-use and office design, overseeing projects from schematics to construction. Rebecca’s diverse background has led her to speak at the Venice Biennale in 2016, while also winning awards including the AIA GA Design Student Award 2020. During her time at NELSON, she has managed numerous projects including The Interlock and Trilith Live.

Natasha is a project architect at NELSON Worldwide with specialties in project management and team leadership, and a strong aptitude for mentoring young professionals. She enjoys leading projects from design through construction, and her strengths include coordinating stakeholders and negotiating winning design solutions.

TRACEY FORD

Senior Principal / EOA Architects

Whether it be at the scale of the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center or the complexity of the Bento Nashville’s “Aparthotel”, Tracey’s local designs have focused on high-profile urban infill and mixed-use, multi-family projects. Recently, this includes leading the team for the Smyrna Ready Mix Corporate Headquarters. Tracey became a firm principal and owner in 2015 with EOA becoming majority woman-owned in 2019.

Madison Galloway is a BIM/ VDC Coordinator with Hoar Construction. Working out of the Atlanta office, Madison handles all 3D site logistics, 4D animations and helps support project MEP coordination. Her favorite aspect of her job is helping project teams win new pursuits.

HOLLY GOTFREDSON President / American Metalcraft

After a career in the creative world and working at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Holly entered the world of manufacturing. Her rainscreen systems, custom sunshades, infill, perforated and shadowbox panels, brake metal and column covers grace the LG Headquarters in New Jersey, Philly Live in Philadelphia, PA, The Research Center at the University of Idaho, Fort Bliss Hospital in El Paso, Texas and the 14th Street Bridge in Atlanta.

SPEAKERS

Mr. Hartman is a senior managing director and is responsible for securing and managing the development, acquisition and asset management of projects in the Southeast Region of the United States. He served on the Finance, Operations & Tenant Relations Committee. Since joining Hines in 1990, he has been involved in the development, financing, leasing and management of over 15 million square feet of office, retail and hospitality projects, and is actively pursuing new opportunities throughout the region.

BJ HAISTEN

Senior Project Manager / Brasfield & Gorrie

BJ Haisten is a Senior Project Manager at Brasfield & Gorrie. He has worked as a PM in Construction for the past 15 years. Haisten has a B.S. in Building Construction from Auburn University.

KEVIN LANDRY

Senior Architect / NELSON

Proficient at developing unique design solutions to address the needs of NELSON’s valued clients, Kevin is involved in all aspects of the design and construction process from schematic design to construction documentation development and construction administration. With a focus on retail mixed use design, emphasizes the importance of brand identity when developing concepts for projects at any scale. Kevin received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of a project’s design, Teresa is deeply involved from preliminary site design and master planning to proposals and contracts. As Studio Leader with NELSON’s Mixed-Use practice, she ensures all protocols and processes are diligently being followed, while nurturing the growth of the practice and teammates. Teresa received her Bachelor of Architecture from Kennesaw State University, Marietta Campus.

Jason Ross, AIA, LEED Green Associate is a Technical Designer & Senior Associate for Gensler. Jason’s knowledge of cutting-edge design, delivery, and construction technologies makes him an invaluable asset to delivering highquality work with a focus on maintaining the functional integrity to make that biggest impact for his clients. Jason has served project teams in both the project architect and project manager role on projects of varying size and scope. His experience with complex buildings gives him unique capabilities in all aspects of the architectural practice from early conceptual design to construction documentation and administration.

Jay is a design director at Duda|Paine Architects. His approach to design inspires and integrates the ideas of team members from all disciplines and levels of experience. Jay’s leadership across all phases of complex, large-scale projects is enhanced by his strength as a conceptual and analytical thinker. He recognizes the reciprocal relationship between ideas and making: the process of making can inform an idea, just as an idea can inform the process of making. Together, the two allow for new ideas and unexpected results to emerge.

LAMAR WAKEFIELD Principal / NELSON

By nurturing quality relationships with employees, clients, and contractors, Lamar’s emphasis on people permeates every aspect of the firm’s business. He channels his expertise and vast architectural implementation experience into a successfully executed project. Lamar has led several successful projects in the Atlanta metro region, including Avalon, Atlantic Station, and Fenton. His expertise in creating vibrant mixeduse developments that trigger further growth around sports venues, such as The Battery, is unprecedented.

MICHAEL WASYLIW Associate Principal / EOA Architects

Michael Wasyliw, AIA is an Associate Principal with EOA Architects. Growing up in Nashville, Michael has experienced the growth of the city firsthand and contributed to it since joining EOA Architects in 2014. Michael has worked on a variety of projects ranging from Nashville’s first modular multi-family project, Alloy at Tech Hill, to charter schools, mixed-use developments, and civic projects. He was the project architect for the Smyrna Ready Mix (SRM) corporate headquarters. Michael enjoys the collaborative nature of the profession and is constantly learning about new construction processes and materials that can further push a project to meet a client’s needs.

MO WRIGHT Director of Architectural Systems / Gate Precast

Mo has worked in the precast industry for nearly 20 years in a wide variety of positions including precast sales and marketing, estimating and project management. He has also been involved in several design-assist collaborations on large public and private projects. As marketing director, he is responsible for corporate communications as well as an education program for architects, owners and contractors regarding the unlimited options of using architectural and structural precast systems and the advancements made within the digital realm. His most recent speaking engagement was on the use of 3D printing within the precast industry and the workflow used to generate printed forms for use in prefabrication.
