Of all the projects that have reunited the casts of classic television series, “A Very Brady Christmas” is one of the most beloved, accounting for the annual runs that MeTV has been giving it in recent years. It appears there again on Sunday, Dec. 10, as Mike and Carol (again played by Robert Reed and Florence Henderson) decide to reunite their entire “Brady Bunch” for the holidays. Each of the grown children has his or her own dilemma, though … ranging from Marcia’s (Maureen McCormick) concern over her husband Wally’s (Jerry Houser) sudden job loss, to Bobby’s (Mike Lookinland) secret about his chosen profession. The enjoyable 1988 film also brings back Barry Willliams as Greg, Eve Plumb as Jan, Christopher Knight as Peter and Ann B. Davis as housekeeper Alice. However, there’s a different Cindy, with Susan Olsen (who was on her honeymoon at the time of the filming) replaced by Jennifer Runyon.
celebritypipeline BY JAY BOBBIN Seeking the ‘Godfather’ version that’s hard to find Q: I’ve seen the “Godfather” movies many times, but someone told me the first two had been edited into a version that runs chronologically, instead of much of “Part II” being flashbacks. Is that true, and if so, where can I see that version? – Roger Foster, via e-mail A: Known by several other names in later years, director Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather Saga” was televised by NBC in 1977 and merged the first two movies in chronological order, deleting some content that wasn’t appropriate for broadcast television, but also adding scenes that hadn’t been included in the theatrical releases. In 1992, “The Godfather: Part III” (which was released in 1990) was added to the earlier version to keep the “Saga” complete. The latter edition was made available on VHS tape and laserdisc, but not on DVD, and it’s rare to find it now … and, frankly, anything to play it on. AMC also ran “The Godfather Saga” in 2012, to mark the 40th anniversary of the original “Godfather” film. The “Saga” that combines the first two movies has been available for streaming, but it hasn’t been released on DVD, Bluray or 4K Ultra HD, making it one of the gems in the Paramount Pictures library that will be a very big event if it’s ever issued on the currently prominent forms of physical home video. Masked merriment: ‘The Masked Singer’ presents holiday sing-along Christmas with a … cow? Maybe. But only if they don’t get voted out. “The Masked Singer” puts holiday cheer center stage, as a new edition of “The Masked Singer Holiday Special” debuts on a special night, Tuesday, Dec. 12, on Fox. “Holiday splendor and masked merriment collide,” the network promises. “In this beloved yuletide special featuring all-new jaw-dropping surprise performances from Season 10 contestants, spectacular sing-along fun from Masked Singer alumni and ‘The Masked Singer’ carolers: Nick Cannon [“Celebrity Prank Wars”], Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg [“Two and a Half Men”], Ken Jeong [“Community”], Robin Thicke [“Paula,” 2014] and Nicole Scherzinger [“Killer Nick Cannon from Love,” 2011]. Celebrate the holidays with a look back at the best moments from the milestone “The Masked Singer” 10th season, all leading into the can’t-miss final two episodes!” During the special, Season 10’s remaining contestants (still masked) will perform a slate of holiday songs, with each act including some all-new animated clues that just might give away the singer’s identity.
