Incorporating Instructional Strategies For Increased Affectivity Of English Language Students Most of the American and British high schools and universities have students from different origins and cultures which mean English is not their first language. However, all the courses are in English language and therefore it is important for them to have a strong command over the language of instruction i.e. English. English learners can learn English language easily and quickly if the teachers follow the English Language Development (ELD) strategy. This is a set of instructional strategies that can be implemented systematically in order to make an English language acquisition easier for the learners. All of these strategies collectively help in learning the second language in a way they learned their native language i.e. naturally. English language learners should regularly interact and communicate with native English language speakers to hasten the process of learning. Just like a baby learns a language naturally by interacting with his family and listening to them speaking in a particular language, adults would also learn quickly this way. English Language Development strategy focusses on language acquisition through a natural setting rather than going into the intricate details of grammar. In this way, the learners have correct grammar automatically because they are learning directly from the native speakers rather than from books. The EDL strategy works best under two conditions. First, when the messages delivered are understandable by the learner and second when there is no pressure on learning the language all at once. Teachers can go slowly and make language acquisition activities more interesting. Asking students to write long essay papers in the language they don’t know is something impractical and ineffective. The EDL consists of four main domains on which the language is taught. These include reading, writing, listening and speaking. Since all of these are important to acquire fluency in any language, the strategy is quite effective. The classroom environment should be constructed in a way that supports language acquisition. Following are some of the ways through which teachers can make such a cool learning environment in the class:    

Teachers should use visuals to explain the words Motivate students to learn rather than pressurizing them Emphasize on learning through learners self-participation in learning activities Teachers should use simple vocabulary, pause periodically and naturally, repeat difficult or long sentences and be enthusiastic With the EDL strategy, the English language students are more likely to learn the language quickly and easily with more interest and less pressure on learning it.
