Effective R&D is in Amplid's DNA. Our obsession and strength is turning 'less' into better by keeping excess material and phony gimmicks off the menu so that only the ingredients that improve performance go into our shreds. And what we don't include you won't miss anyway. Amplid relentlessly questions the traditional ways of doing things. By blazing our own trail we are constantly discovering new and better ways of building skis and snbs. Creating superficial products goes against everything we believe in. So, eight years in, Amplid continues to keep it real by offering products in a class of their own. At its core Amplid is about utilizing the full breadth of the Amplid Research Cartel's expertise and experience. The ARC is one big family; everybody who contributes is an integral part. We not only involve but depend on Cartel and Ambush team riders to test new ideas. We are in constant communication with our factories to make sure that opportunities to improve product performance and durability are not missed. The ARC is constantly expanding to incorporate new suppliers with pioneering material solutions that make our shreds ride better. For the past two years the ARC has been secretly working on greener ways of building next level rides in order to keep the snow white - a philosophy that everybody at Amplid is passionate about - culminating in the launch of the Amplid Green Light Project. The purists won't ride anything else, why would they? Camber is synonymous with powerful ollie pop, snap out of carves and superior edge hold. On the flip side, riding camber requires concentration to avoid nasty edge catches, and strong legs and setback stances in powder.

We experimented with our last yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2DC;s Creamer and added a flatliner geometry underneath the rear binding but kept the midraiser in the nose. The result is a directional everfloating all mountain and backcountry board with better pop and tail control in steep terrain and for quick reactive turns.

The AMPLID GREEN LIGHT PROJECT isn't a sudden reaction to consumer demand. Since Amplid's inception the company has strived to keep its negative impact on the environment to a minimum, after all it's in our interest to keep the mountains white. Since day one our skis and snowboards have been manufactured by some of the most environmentally forward thinking factories in the EU. We've kept our carbon footprint as small as possible by sourcing all of our raw materials within a 400km radius of our factories. Additionally, Amplid was instrumental in the R&D and realisation of WDT Polywood core technology, a core material that makes use of otherwise wasted material and requires 50% less energy than standard wood cores to create. Two years ago Amplid's founders Peter Bauer and Anian Thrainer felt it was time to apportion Amplid's twenty years of ski and snowboard R&D experience to developing high performance products created from non-toxic materials and less energy hungry manufacturing processes; the Green Light Project was born. You won't see bamboo sidewalls imported from the Far East or expensive wood veneers created from tropical hardwoods on our products, in our eyes these are in most cases aesthetics designed to pull the wool over consumers' eyes. The Green Light Project is about real eco-friendly technologies that deliver incredible performance; it's about extending the ARC to incorporate innovative suppliers providing green and recycled material solutions and putting these materials through our rigorous testing. We believe that this search will unearth materials that offer superior riding characteristics and durability to the current crop of materials used by 99% of manufacturers at present. The Amplid Green Light Project is the start of a journey and the commitment by Amplid to push green ski and snowboard technology forward. In ten, twentyâ&#x20AC;Ś who knows how many years' time we will feel proud that we were involved in a movement that transformed the industry, we hope you'll come along for the ride.

THE AMPLID GREEN LIGHT PROJECT: TOPSHEET: BASED ON RIZINUS-CASTOR OIL Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean. Castor oil is a colorless to very pale yellow liquid with mild or no odor or taste. Instead of traditional petrol this polyethylene topsheet foil is based on castor oil.

BASE: 100% RECYCLED PE, SINTERED Polyethylen has been recycled, cleaned, ground, sintered and saturated with bee wax.

SIDEWALL: RECYCLED ABS ABS material gets recycled, ground and compressed into recycled ABS plates. Only available in black. Coloured leftovers in the factory have been reused to create split sidewall design. Coloured splits appear randomly.

CORE: FSC WOOD & RECYCLED P.E.T. FSC WOODCORES are provided by sales organisations with an aproved replanting certification. All woodcores come from regional sources. We are currently (Jan. 2012) experimenting with RECYCLED P.E.T. BOTTLE CORES with FLAX STRINGERS and mixed compound cores, and the first riding tests have been incredible. By the time you get that shred under your feet, it might have already those new cores. The P.E.T. cores from from Switzerland with flax fibre reinforcement cultivated in Belgium.

FLAX FIBRE TUBES For skipoles we are using a new composite material made from flax fibres and carbon fibres. The result is higher durability than glasfibre or aluminum tubes, lighter weight and: The tubes are made out of regrowing non-food-competitive organic material.

RESIN: ECO-PLAST BIO CONTENT: 60 % of renewable, agricultural raw materials. MANUFACTURING PROCESS: Straight feed stock bio-chemical resin: no waste, no green house emissions; no VOC, no byproducts; Minor power and zero water consumption. SUSTAINABILITY: Reduced CO2 footprint by using agricultural raw materials and fillers based on natural minerals; none competing with food sources. MOLDING PROCESS OF FIBER-REINFORCED COMPONENTS: Quick and lower energy consuming curing process assisted by a special catalyst system, shortening time and lower temp necessary for curing.

Imagine a customized helmet, taylor made to your head. Or even better: An autofitting system, which self-adapts to the shape of your skull.

VACO 12:

Thanks to the ARC and our “VACO 12 TECHNOLOGY”, this theory became reality: The traditional inner foam padding got replaced by a selfadapting vacuum cushion, filled with expanded polypropylene balls in conjunction with a rigid shell.

By putting the helmet onto your head, you automatically press out the air and evacuate the cushion. The balls can’t move anymore, your helmet is moulded around your head. A perfectly fitting helmet is not only more comfortable, but also a lot safer.

NEXT LEVEL SHOCK ABSORBTION AND FIT.

The secret lies in the round beads: The flowing motion of the helmet filling prevents pressure points and provide perfect fit. Unlike conventional helmets the beads don´t forward the impact energy into the inner core but distribute it – according to its natural flow – towards the outside. This technology has already been proven in medical science and now can finally be found in the sporting goods industry.

THE VACO 12 PRINCIPLE 6

At maximum dilation, every globe has 12 contact points with its neighbouring globes. These 12 contact points pass on the energy multidimensionally to the next 12 globes.

The weakened energy is then passed again on via another 12 contact points and so on... Energy is not transferred in a linear way, but in all directions along random load inverters, until the energy is absorbed by friction and deformation of the vaco globes.

VACO 12 TRANSMISSION OF FORCE With VACO12, forces are passed solely on via contact points to the neighbouring VACO12 Globes. In addition, some of the energy is transformed into thermal energy by the associated friction. The impact energy is reduced and distributed throughout a large area via millions of contact points. Contrary to traditional foam materials, the system only requires a little space.

CONVENTIONAL FOAMS Traditional foam materials have a linear construction of comparably low density. In the event of an impact the material is compressed to a certain threshold value. Once this value is exceeded, the compressed foam material faces a massive amount of pressure, which is transferred instantly to the structure below, in a straight line. These materials have another clear disadvantage: Especially in cold temperatures, they quickly lose their absorbing properties, harden and become less effective for protective gear.

We could have built some wacky one dimensional surfboard inspired powder board. Instead we focused our energies on building the CREAMER, a freeride shred that rips. The Creamer's conservative geometry means absolute freeride freedom; float in bottomless powder, grip on hardpack, slice up corduroy and blast through chop in unmatched control. Our new POW ROCKER has rocker in the nose and a flat profile in the tail for more powerful slashes, control in the steeps and for sticking tail heavy landings. Snippets of DNA were taken from skis in the Amplid range and painstakingly combined by the ARC to create the ultimate all-mountain shreds.
