encourages honest dialogue, respect for the feelings, values and cultures of others, teamwork and commitment to mission. A harmonious work environment is fostered by following covenants established by the founders. This culture ensures that the hospice attracts and retains the region’s best skilled hospice professionals. Currently, a comprehensive dementia initiative is underway to reach individuals earlier in the disease process to communicate their long-range healthcare choices. Through collaboration with other dementia experts and community organizations, HWR is working to explore innovative new ways to provide family caregivers with the education,

support and tools they need to provide loved ones with a better quality of life. This development is one of many that will ensure that the hospice remains able to address the ever-growing need for hospice and palliative care over the years to come. By 2030, it is estimated that the number of seniors in Northern Ohio will be almost equal to the number of people under the age of 20. Longer lifespans also mean more seniors are living with chronic disease, creating a growing need for hospice and palliative care services, and as such, HWR will remain committed to providing cutting-edge hospice services and care as it looks towards a bright future.

Disability Support Centre 2019 - Caribbean about the crucial support it provides. Tomorrow’s Voices is the brainchild of two parents of autistic children, Ms. Tricia Simons (Crow) and Ms. Thea Furbert. These parents felt that there was a need for a place that could provide handson Applied Behaviour Analysis/ Verbal Behaviour services for children on the Autism Spectrum. With the help of donors, the autism community, friends and family their brainchild became a reality with Tomorrow’s Voices officially opening its doors to clients in October 2007. Today, Tomorrow’s Voices mission is to bring positive change to the lives of individuals

(2 to 21) with autism, pervasive developmental disorders and other developmental delays through research based best educational practices. Tomorrow’s Voices’ aims to provide training to allied health professionals, parents, teachers and others in the Bermuda community regarding the scholarly research cited as best practices in the service delivery to people with disabilities. This organization strives to provide a continuum of care throughout the lifespan of people with autism, pervasive developmental delays and other developmental disabilities an

effective and individualized educational program for children with autism and related disabilities. As part of its work to achieve this mission, Tomorrow’s Voices works with their clients in a 1:1 capacity with the aim of reverse inclusion. In this 1:1 setting the staff teach the skills necessary for clients to function and learn in an inclusive environment. Tomorrow’s Voices’ overall goal is to teach their clients the skills needed to perform more independently and provide them with better quality of life through intensive early intervention. Within Tomorrow’s Voices’ unique generalization framework, the organisation’s general curriculum teaches each child critical language skills, functional activities, socialization, initiation/ spontaneity and generalization of mastered concepts/skills. These skills are built into every child’s educational program and individualized to meet his or her learning style and unique needs. Thanks to the expertise and experience of its Founders and staff, Tomorrow’s Voices understands that not every child learns in the same way. Through careful observation, assessment and interaction with each child,

the team can determine the best way to teach them, and craft a service plan specific to their current needs. The organisation’s centre is unique in that a Behaviour Analyst provides program oversight and develops all of its programs. The analyst will conduct therapy when necessary and provide modelling of therapeutic strategies to staff and parents. The organisation’s teaching methods are based on the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis and include a variety of different teaching procedures that are taught in both Intensive Teaching and the Natural Environment. All of Tomorrow’s Voices’ services are provided in a safe, nurturing and structured environment with a maximum of 1:2 staff to student ratio. Ultimately, the overall goal of Tomorrow’s Voices is to provide clients with the skills to assist with their reintegration into their neighbourhood schools with minimal supervision and to provide them with a better quality of life through intervention. This will remain the organisation’s ongoing focus as it looks towards a bright and exciting future filled with opportunities for further success and expansion of its unique solutions offering.
