What is AIESEC is the largest youth-led international non-profit organization that provides leadership opportunities to young people around the globe to develop themselves as global leaders, so that they can make a positive impact on the society. We have over 80,000 members in 124 countries and territories, over 1 million alumni and have been creating life changing experiences for over 6 decades. AIESEC is an organization where leaders are being lead, so our presence of more than 700 active members in University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Colombo, University of Moratuwa, University of Kelaniya, IIT and SLIIT have placed their relentless efforts to achieve exponential growths in the organization while enhancing the quality of the delivery of our initiatives. AIESEC COLOMBO CENTRAL local committee is a part of AIESEC in Sri Lanka that is working towards realizing the AIESEC goals and providing leadership opportunities to the undergraduates in the University of Colombo so that they could make a positive impact on the Sri Lankan community as well as the world.
GLOBAL COMMUNITY DEVELOMENT PROGRAM
Global Community Development Programme (Incoming) which is also called iGCDP is the function within AIESEC where we conduct Community Development Projects targeting to cater few social issues existing in Sri Lanka. We carry out these projects through project teams consisting of undergraduates of University of Colombo. The main focus in iGCDP is to provide opportunities to develop their leadership skills through the practical experiences they gain by working in our projects. We believe that by giving our members an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones when working in our projects while facing challenging situations and overcoming them the members would understand better about themselves and would try to develop themselves which in turn would develop their Leadership Potential. We develop our members to become World Citizens! The foreign undergraduates who will be working in the projects brings down cultural understanding for each and every person attached to the team, making it easier for them to adjust to different cultures and at the end of the day become a World Citizen. What You Get to Do in iGCDP! • Work in a project team working for a social issues which you are passionate to work on as a team member or as a team leader. • Work in a team with different types of undergraduates from different backgrounds and faculties. • Work with foreign undergraduates who are equally passionate about working for the cause which you are working on in the project. • Going for official company meetings to raise partnerships for the projects • Come up with marketing strategies to promote your project • Design attractive content to highlight your project Basically, whatever the skills you want to develop, there are practical experiences available in iGCDP for you to develop them. OUT GOING EXCHANGE
Out Going eXchange or OGX is the function within AIESEC, where we select talented undergraduates and graduates from within the University of Colombo and multiple External Institutes, and provide them opportunities to go abroad for volunteer and professional internships. You will be able to work with a very diverse set of people from different faculties and external institutes, and experience an enthusiastic and energetic culture based team environment.
