Emily and Taylor met in high school on the track and field team. They were close friends, but didn’t start dating until Taylor asked Emily out on a lunch date. Fast forward to Emily’s last year in college; Taylor had a new question to ask. He tied the ring to their cat’s collar and waited for her to notice. It took a while, but after she caught the cat she said yes— and as she says, the rest is history. Don’t go at it alone! Make your bridal show day fun with friends, family and your fiance. They’ll have great input and advice.
create a temporary email address just for wedding planning Keep wedding-related bids, receipts and offers in one place without cluttering your personal inbox. bring address labels with your name, email address, phone number and wedding date Each vendor you interact with will request your information, and there will be lots of giveaways, too. Having an address label handy will save time (and your hand!) wear comfortable shoes Save those fancy heels for your wedding day! You’ll be spending a lot of time on your feet, so make sure your footwear will be comfortable for several hours at a time. bring your fiancé He wants to be part of the important decisions, too. This will save time in the future, and he will be a big help when it comes to choosing which vendors you want to work with.

bring cash for entrance fees You’ll also want to keep your credit/debit card with you for any deposits and down payments you choose to make. If you meet a vendor who is the perfect fit and is available on your wedding date, you’ll want to book their services so you don’t lose out. bring reusable shopping bags You’ll leave the fair with a pile of brochures, business cards and samples in hand. Some vendors will have plastic bags, but it’s much more convenient (and stylish!) to bring along reusable bags to tote your goodies. *Bonus tip: Tuck a plastic baggie or zippered pouch into your bag – when you meet a vendor you want to consider further, put those business cards in the pouch to keep them separate from the rest.
Engage with vendors who are at the show and don’t be afraid to ask questions! Here are a few basics to get you started: • What is your style/strength? Deliver the license to the person who solemnizes the marriage. The officiant must complete the bottom portion of the license (also signed by the couple and two witnesses), and then return it to the Register of Deeds within 10 days of the wedding. The license remains on file permanently in the issuing registrar’s office.

An engaged couple must appear together at any South Dakota County Register of Deeds office with photo identification (Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID, Tribal Photo ID or a certified copy of birth certificate) to apply. Allow yourselves at least 30 minutes for the complete application process.
licensing fees
The license fee is $40. If you change your name after you are married, you will need a certified copy of the marriage license for your new South Dakota driver’s license. A fee of $15 for a certified copy applies.

No waiting period or blood test is required; license can be used immediately, and must be solemnized within 20 days from issue date or the license becomes void.

You’ve waited for those beautiful trinkets your whole life. They not only hold a value of sentiment about the love and commitment they represent, but they also hold real financial value that you should be considering. Insurance for your ring will usually cost between 1-3 percent of the rings value per year. If your ring would cost $5,000 to replace, you can expect to pay around $50-150 each year to have it insured.

why should I get my rings insured?
Having them insured will give you peace of mind that in the event they are lost or stolen, they can be replaced. The cost of an insurance policy is small in comparison to the cost to replace what may have required years of saving to purchase in the first place.
how do I get them insured?
There are multiple ways and policies you can choose to cover insuring your ring. Some homeowners’ and renters’ insurance policies allow you to add your rings to the overall coverage. However, many of these policies only cover up to a specific dollar amount. You can also opt for a personal property policy that covers just your rings, or other specific high value items such as expensive jewelry, electronics or collectibles. Most companies will require a jeweler appraisal. When getting your appraisal, talk to the appraiser about how they address the issue of inflation. It is also a good idea to take good photos of your rings, not only to offer additional proof to the insurance company, but also to help the jeweler to be able to recreate what you have lost.

Working with a local professional will open up your options. Make your RSVP date two to three weeks before your wedding date to allow enough time to get final guest numbers to vendors.

Stationery will display a matching style across all pieces. Items couples usually include in their stationery packages are save-the-dates, invites, and RSVPs before the wedding, ceremony programs, table placeholders and menus for the wedding, and thank yous and envelopes for postwedding wrap-up tasks. Don’t be afraid to ask your vendor for trends they’ve seen and complementary styles. Not everything has to be exactly the same. Mix it up with a twist of your personalities combined into one cohesive look. Play with textures, colors, and different types of papers to add little details your guests will take notice of as they see your stationery.

Your wedding gown is going to be beautiful, and probably the largest investment on a dress you will ever make. Its showcase will be the day of your wedding, but there are tasks before and after the big day to make sure your dress stays in perfect condition. You love that dress with all your heart leading up to the wedding. It’s your baby and you make sure every little detail is precise and it is sparkly new. When your wedding day comes, your focus will shift to what’s actually going on. The dress will be dragged on the ground, through glitter and grass. You’re going to have a great time and food will drop and drinks will be spilled. It’s ok! After the wedding, your gown should be cleaned and protected. At the cleaners, let them know of anything and everything that was spilled on your dress. Since the heat from the cleaning will essentially set the stains, pre-treating will be important if you don’t want brown spots on the gown. Preserving your gown is crucial if you want your dress kept in good condition. All of the elaborate beading, sequins, and lace may cause complications during the cleaning…but don’t let that stop you from getting the gown of your dreams. Talk through the process with your vendor and be patient with the processes they will need to take. To store the dress, ask for your gown to be placed in a dust-proof, acid-free box suitable for storage. This will preserve all of the delicate laces, beading and fabric of your wedding ensemble, helping keep the yellow hues away. Last but not least, store your gown in an area that is cool and dry.

One way to be sure everyone is on the same page is to go through sample shots together, identify ones you like and explain why you chose those images. Buttercream: Smooth icing that can be made in different consistencies, colors and flavors. It will melt in extreme heat. Crumb Coat: A thin layer of icing, put on before other layers, that catches crumbs. Fondant: A stiff cake covering that is used to give it a smooth and clean look. Fondant is not as tasty, so many couples choose to have a layer of buttercream or ganache under the fondant. Ganache: A rich chocolate icing that gives the cake a glossy finish. welcome Sometime between making your guest list and ordering your invitations, you will need to make arrangements for your out-oftown guests. No, you won’t need to foot the bill, but securing a couple of hotels where your guests can choose to stay is a nice touch as they come to celebrate your wedding day. When you are searching for the hotel, consider more than the price tag. Look at the hotel reviews, staff, amenities and the location in relation to your venue. Most hotels will offer you a better rate if you are blocking a group of rooms. Include the hotel information and a “book-by” date on your invitations for your guests to refer to. Have a welcome bag waiting for your guests when they arrive in their hotel rooms. Some things you may want to consider including in the package are simple items such as toiletries, food
(especially locally-made), mints and gum. Be sure to include a local tourism publication, maps and written directions to all events that guests are invited to attend. Having a list of close ATMs and gas stations is also a good addition. While it’s not necessarily expected, it is a nice gesture to invite guests who have made the journey to your wedding to attend the rehearsal dinner. For the day of your wedding, assign a friend (someone local) whom guests can contact should questions or needs arise. Hospitality and generosity toward your wedding guests will go a long way to ensure your wedding is a weekend for everyone to remember.

Transportation is an important aspect of wedding arrangements that shouldn’t be put on the back burner. From wedding party travel to shuttles for your guests – and, of course, your grand exit from the reception – transportation plays a big role in your wedding day. Include the cost of your ride in your overall wedding budget and research your local options early to ensure that your date will be available for the transportation service you choose. After you have a price point in place, take these ideas into consideration when booking your ride.
a ride for everyone
Most couples will provide transportation for their wedding party and both sets of parents the day of the wedding – especially if they are not riding with you from your ceremony site. Typically, the best man is in charge of getting the groom and the other groomsmen to the ceremony site on time. After the ceremony, the groom will then join his bride on the way to the reception venue, so as to arrive together. If you have several out-of-town guests without their own transportation, consider providing a ride to get them to and from the ceremony and reception locations. Providing a shuttle service is a nice touch and ensures that they won’t be late to your ceremony. It’s a good idea to have cab information or the same shuttle service available to
your guests following the reception. This is especially true if alcohol has been served.

Talk to several rental companies, and do not book a vehicle or carriage over the phone — ask to see it first to make sure it is what you are looking for. Find out how many people will fit in each vehicle. It will be uncomfortable when 14 people from your wedding party squeeze into a vehicle meant for 10.

returns
Many reception venues give couples the opportunity to gather personal items, such as picture frames, guest books and centerpieces, on the day following a wedding. If that is a possibility with your venue, you can avoid the worry of packing the car after a night of celebration. This arrangement can contribute to a stressfree wedding night. However, you should still make a list of other, normally disposable décor items that you would like to keep. Ask a family member or friend to collect them before leaving the wedding. This will allow helpers or vendors to toss any remaining items during normal clean-up.

After the wedding, you will need to take on the task of selecting your photos. Allow yourself some time – there will be hundreds to sort through! Check your wedding photography packages to see if prints and albums are included. If not, you will need to decide how you would like to preserve them.
If you have rentals, such as tables, chairs, linens or décor, designate a family member or friend to gather them and return the items on the first business day following your wedding. Check your contract for cleaning instructions. If your groom’s and groomsmen’s suits were rented, these will need to be returned. Often, policies require that all rentals be returned the next day.
