이달의맥주 Words by Troy Zitzelsberger

Winter Warmer - HopMori & Budnamu Brewing Co.

Aroma: Strong traditional winter spices up front (nutmeg, clove & cinnamon), followed by malt that added a nice, subtle pumpernickel note.

Appearance: A hazy, dark brown hue that reminds me of hot chocolate with a subtle white lingering head.

Flavor: Spiced pumpernickel bread. Up front I get the clove and nutmeg. The 37 IBUs become present on the sides of the tongue while on the follow through comes cinnamon and an interesting spice note that most would assume comes from the use of rye. The malt lends notes of pumpernickel. The balance is tilted to bitter, which any pale ale and IPA fan would appreciate.

Mouthfeel: Very light up front with a full midpalate and moderate carbonation.

Overall Impression: Holiday cheer in a glass. The seasonal spices remind you that you may need to finish your Christmas shopping. There’s also a very limited quantity available so get it while you can.
