Safety Protocols at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts » The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts will only open when it is safe to do so, operating under strict adherence to Ontario Public Health guidelines that include rules regarding venue capacity, physical distancing measures and the implementation of physical barriers where necessary. » In mapping out a safe return to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, both the Canadian Opera Company and The National Ballet of Canada have engaged Get Ready, specialists in emergency management and training, to advise and guide all planning for live audience programming. » Rigorous sanitation protocols are in place. » Hand sanitizer is available throughout the venue. » “No touch” sinks are available in all washrooms.
Masks » The National Ballet of Canada will adhere to Ontario Public Health guidelines regarding masks. It is not yet known whether masks will be a requirement for indoor venues in November. Once the policy is confirmed, we will communicate this to all patrons prior to the season.
Physically Distanced Seating » At this time, we are hoping that with a successful vaccine roll out by November, physically distanced seating will not be required. However, we will strictly adhere to guidelines from Ontario Public Health and if physically distanced seating is required, subscribers will receive priority. We will clearly communicate with all patrons as this policy unfolds.

Angels’ Atlas & Serenade November 11 – 21, 2021 The National Ballet of Canada opens the 2021/22 season after more than 20 months off stage with a moving programme led by Crystal Pite’s recent creation, Angels’ Atlas, which explores the impermanence and vitality of existence by setting the dancers against an enormous, shifting wall of light. The programme opens with the moonlit beauty of George Balanchine’s Serenade, set to Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C, Op. 48.

A Streetcar Named Desire A Ballet by John Neumeier March 2 – 6, 2022 John Neumeier’s powerful adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tennessee Williams charts the demise of Blanche DuBois, a southern belle transplanted in a hostile landscape she cannot accept. Richly characterized and simmering with violence, A Streetcar Named Desire is a gritty, psychological portrait of loss, delusion and desire.

The Sleeping Beauty March 11 – 20, 2022 Rudolf Nureyev’s The Sleeping Beauty has been a jewel in The National Ballet of Canada repertoire since the ballet premiered in 1972. Showy and opulent, Nureyev’s staging indulges in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s great classical score with dazzling variations, fairy-tale characters and an expanded lead role for Prince Florimund.

D New Work by Alysa Pires & PR EM New Work by Siphesihle November IE RE S with After the Rain & Elite Syncopations March 23 – 27, 2022 A dynamic programme of contemporary ballet featuring world premieres by Choreographic Associate Alysa Pires and newly-appointed Principal Dancer Siphesihle November in his choreographic debut with the full company. The programme also marks the company premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s poignant After the Rain, followed by Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s ragtime classic Elite Syncopations.
