SOLENT: University of the Year? Solent University has been shortlisted for University of the Year in the Times Higher Education Awards.

Solent, which has been growing rapidly since its transition to a university just 14 years ago in 2005, is being recognised officially by the most prestigious education awards. Since its opening as a university Solent has accomplished many things from the completion of The Spark in 2016 and the new sports complex in 2019. To the incredible results it achieves in post graduate futures where 93.9% were employed or had continued their education 6months after leaving in 2018. Solent has also received a TEF Silver for their high level of teaching. Solent also provides a multitude of opportunities for students to take advantage of whilst studying. Solent Futures provides students with careers assistance, helping students with everything from placements to local part-time job vacancies. Other opportunities available are Re:So (a student run retail shop), Solent Creatives, Solent Music, Solent Productions, Solent TV and a wide range of societies. Not only is Solent an award-winning university, it is located in the heart of Southampton which has it all‌ Restaurants, pubs, bars, clubs, shops, theatres, music venues, cinemas, a football stadium, access to ferries and cruise ships, the seaside and even an airport!
