I believe that the IT industry will continue to be a driving force of innovation and transformation in 2023, as organizations increasingly leverage emerging technologies to improve their operations and better serve their customers. As CIO of SPAR stores, I am committed to staying ahead of these trends and ensuring that we are using the latest IT tools and solutions to drive our business forward.

The industry will continue to experience significant changes and advancements in 2023. Here are a few key areas where I see the industry heading:

Increased adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML): AI and ML will continue to be among the top trends in the IT industry in 2023. Organizations will increasingly leverage these technologies to automate and optimize business processes, gain insights from large amounts of data, and provide more personalized customer experiences.

Continued growth in cloud computing: Cloud computing will remain a dominant force in the IT industry, as more organizations move their IT infrastructure and applications to the cloud. This will enable greater scalability, flexibility, and cost savings for organizations of all sizes.

Greater emphasis on cybersecurity: With the rise of

I led a diverse team to implement a new digital strategy. The team comprised members from various countries, including India, Middle East and Africa, with different backgrounds, skill sets, and communication styles. During the project, we encountered several challenges due to cultural differences, including conflicting work styles and communication barriers. To overcome these, we leveraged our strengths, built trust, and embraced diversity. We conducted regular team-building exercises, encouraged open communication, and held cultural awareness sessions to gain a deeper understanding of our team members' cultures. Ultimately, we were able to create a more effective team that delivered better results, highlighting the importance of embracing diversity

WHICH WAS YOUR MOST SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO YOUR COMPANY IN 2022 AND HOW DID IT IMPACT OR INFLUENCE THE BUSINESS?

My most significant contribution to the company in 2022 was the successful implementation of an omni channel retail solution and an integrated retail platform. This allowed us to create a seamless shopping experience for our customers, both online and in-store. It improved inventory management, streamlined operations, and reduced costs while increasing revenue. We were able to better understand and cater to our customers' needs, ultimately boosting customer loyalty and enhancing the overall customer experience.

However, it's not just about hiring a diverse group of employees. Creating an inclusive workplace culture that values and respects diversity is equally important. This involves addressing issues such as unconscious bias and discrimination, and actively promoting diversity in hiring and promotions.

Despite these benefits, many

organizations still struggle with recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce. It's essential for companies to actively work on overcoming these challenges and creating a workplace that is truly inclusive and diverse. As the ICT Director at Neuro Spinal Hospital, I find the most fulfilling aspect of my role to be the ability to utilize technology to enhance patient care and outcomes. This involves creating and implementing innovative solutions to intricate healthcare ICT issues, as well as working alongside a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives. I am fortunate to have the unwavering support of the senior management team at NSH in these endeavors.

One of the most daunting challenges of working in healthcare is navigating the intricate regulatory environment while ensuring compliance with stringent data privacy and security requirements. This task also involves managing a rapidly evolving technological landscape, addressing competing priorities, and balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders, all while working with limited resources. By staying up-to-date with the latest regulations and technologies and by carefully managing their resources, healthcare organizations can continue to provide high-quality care while navigating the complex healthcare landscape.

We have already begun the process of building our team, and our focus is on the following key areas:

Open Communication: We encourage open communication and transparency to create a culture where team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns. This fosters a collaborative environment where everyone can contribute to the team's success.

Professional Development:

We invest in the professional development of our team members to help them build new

skills and stay up to date with the latest technologies. We also focus on developing their soft skills, which are essential for effective collaboration with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients. Reward and Recognition: We believe in recognizing and rewarding team members for their contributions and successes. This helps to boost morale and promote a positive team culture. By focusing on these key areas, we are confident that we can build a strong and effective team that will deliver exceptional results.

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT A TIME YOU LEAD A CULTURALLY DIVERSE TEAM?

Leading a diverse team with members from different cultural backgrounds can be a challenging task. It is crucial to understand that cultural differences can significantly affect how team members communicate, work, and approach problem-solving. To overcome these challenges, I follow a three-step process that has proven to be effective in building a cohesive and productive team.

Firstly, I prioritize building trust with each team member by getting to know them and their cultural background. I actively listen to their perspectives and show respect for their unique viewpoints. This approach helps to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and heard. Secondly, I ensure that communication channels are open, and everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute.

I understand that language barriers and cultural differences can impact communication, and I work to address these challenges. By promoting effective communication, we can avoid misunderstandings and work towards achieving our goals as a team.

Lastly, I recognize and respect cultural differences within the team. I understand that these differences can impact how team members work and approach problem-solving. By valuing and respecting these differences, we can promote inclusivity and create a team that is stronger and more effective.

WHICH WAS YOUR MOST SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO YOUR COMPANY IN 2022 AND HOW DID IT IMPACT OR INFLUENCE THE BUSINESS?

In addition to successfully implementing Nabidh in a short timeframe, we collaborated with our internal team, HIS vendor ISC, and DHA to ensure a seamless process. Furthermore, we completed ERP migration and integrated it with HIS, while also introducing new departments that involved equipment integration and end-user training. Our team's dedication and expertise allowed us to achieve these milestones efficiently and effectively.

I see the tech industry pivoting around two central axes in 2023 and beyond.

A) Economics: As many leaders of tech conglomerates across the globe have said, I also do believe that 2023 is the year of “efficiency and productivity increase”. AI is a very trending topic at the moment and tools such as ChatGPT have inspired new energy around the potential application of AI technology. We will see some new use cases for AI and see it being increasingly integrated into business beyond what is built into traditional software offerings. As businesses start to explore and experiment with AI more, the importance of data will come into play again. This will bring a rejuvenated focus around data

quality integrity and classification. The more that we focus on our data, we will be reminded of how important it is to secure this data. This will create a focus on information security as we integrate additional data sources and use new tooling to enable our AI technologies.

The level to which diversity is embraced obviously varies between organizations, countries and even teams. on a global level, I believe that awareness is increasing but it is not yet deliberate enough. In my experience, the companies that have benefited most from diversity have embraced it through gender, ethnicity, age, ability, orientation and many other factors. The ones that have not, have not embraced it fully or limited it to just gender or ethnicity.

In 2013 & 2014, when I worked in one of the local companies in UAE, I recruited a Pakistani and managed him. Also, I worked as a Program manager from 2017 to 2020, handling several government projects in UAE. I used to work with more than 10 different nationalities.

• Setting up an IT Company in India within a short period of time and IT Recruitment of employees successfully

completed in India

• RPA Project -

Solution: As a use case for automating this process, we use Automation Anywhere’s RPA bot solution. The digital bot, once deployed, would mimic the human task by creating and uploading the weekday or weekend promotions into the Inhouse application on a weekly basis

The Result: With the RPA implementation from Automation Anywhere, 100% of the promotion entry process into the inhouse tool has now been automated. The implementation has saved approximately 12 hours of manual effort each week, thus increasing the productivity of the employees involved in this effort by over 80%

While this RPA implementation has no doubt directly reduced the manual effort for the employee, it has also improved operational efficiencies for the Group, while also providing its customers a better experience, at all times.

• Microsoft LS Central upgrade to all business entities. Also, SAP CAR implementation for all the retail business entities

• The Internal IT Digital team & IT Security team have been built in a short span of time

Looking forward is always very tricky. The tech space is spinning very fast and the hype at the start of the year may not sustain by the year's end. 2022 started with excitement around NFTs, crypto, and metaverse and by the fall NFT faded, crypto caught cold and metaverse struggled to find a footing. 2023 started with a ChatGPT bang and the social media hype around it would fade by the year's end. What I see is more work around health tech and sustainability. With the economic headwind, we will see companies focusing on developing products around their core capabilities. Automation, process reengineering and data analytics with an element of AI/ML will be on the frontline.
