Every School Has a Culture Baisakhi Celebrated at Everest

just ensure that it is on right Direction When you have people together for any amount of time, a culture emerges that consists of a set of customs, beliefs, values and norms. This culture can either create a sense of mutual purpose, a mission, a vision, values and goals or perpetrate discord. Every school has a culture whether you work on the culture or not. Culture cannot be seen but it is there. It is an important aspect of school. Culture consists of the beliefs, feelings, behaviors, and symbols characteristic of an organization. More specifically, culture is defined as shared philosophies, ideologies, beliefs, feels, expectations, assumptions, attitudes, norms and values. While there is considerable variation in the definitions of a school culture, it appears that most contain the following characteristics: Feelings: An overall atmosphere is conveyed in an organization by the physical layout and the way in which members interact with clients or other outsiders. Rules: guidelines exist for getting along in the organization, or what is needed to be learned by the newcomer in order to “fit in”. Philosophy: Policies guide an organization’s beliefs about how employees and clients should be treated. Most districts and schools have statements of philosophy or mission statements. Dominant Values: An organization espouses and expects its members to share major values. Typical examples in schools are

high-performance levels of faculty and students, low absence and dropout rates and high efficiency and effectiveness. Norms: Standards of behavior evolve in work groups. The impact of work group behavior results in standards and yardsticks that are sanctioned by group norms. Observed Behavioral Regularities: When organizational members interact, they use common language, terminology, rituals, and ceremonies related to deference and dem-eanor. None of these characteristics by itself represent the essence of culture, but collectively they reflect and give meaning to the concept of culture. The culture of a school is interrelated with most other concepts in managing schools, including organizational structures, motivation, leadership, decision making, communication and change. The challenge for the principal is to create a culture that is moving the school forward toward its vision and reinforcing the behaviors necessary for school improvement. The principal-. As developer of culture, is a support and visionary. He/she provides the leadership that is necessary to take the school to the next level. Blake and Mouton, in several of their books talk about Task and People and how to have a good balance of work (eye on the school goals) and employees (caring) to move the school onward and upward. To develop this culture for

the vision that has been created, this existing culture must be identified. The expectations diagnosed should be utilized to identify what the faculty values and expects in terms of attitudes, behaviors, and commitments. It is difficult to develop a plan to achieve a new culture if you have not identified the old one. In a high performing school, the principal works with all stakeholders to develop the culture. The expectations diagnosis is a great tool for involving everyone. Developing a school’s culture is a conscious endeavor, and a principal must be proactive as he/she go about doing so. The principal begins by having people articulate in very specific terms the kinds of behaviors and commitments they think are necessary to move their school forward. This is a challenge, for every school faces the issue of developing a positive school culture. In developing a positive culture, the principal should ask, what are our expectations, attitudes, behaviors, and commitments must we demonstrate for our vision to be realized? Are we clear on what is to be accomplished and the criteria we will use in assessing our efforts? Are the current policies, programs, procedures, and practices of our school congruent with our stated vision and values? What are our plans to replace discrepancies?

LUDHIANA (City Vibes) The 'baisakhi festival-2018' was celebrated by the tiny tots of Everest Pb. Sr. Sec. School, Moti Nagar, ludhiana 12th april 2018. Rajinder Sharma, Director, Everest group of schools was the chief guest on this occasion. A fancy dress competition was organised on this occasion. The students presented a bright & colourful programme on this occasion. They presented folk dances and folk songs. Students came in the traditional punjabi dresses and perform gidda & bangra. They were also told about the various aspects of rural punjab, its cultural heritage. Speaking on the occasion Rajinder Sharma said that school has played a significant role in the development of the children, particularly in spreading education among the tiny-tots

lished khalsa panth. They were also told about the various aspects of rural punjab, its cultural heritage. Principal Asha Sharma emphasised on the physical development of the children along with their mental development. She told the students that it is also known as festival of harvesting the wheat crops in punjab. Prizes and sweets were distributed among the tiny-tots of the school. At the end, principal said that the appropriate steps would be taken for the development of the children and the spread of education.

Abuse of children by the school principal in the presence of police

Reacting to the information that principal Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana turned out children of 6th th and 9 class, who were crying, from the school, the Communist Party of India has asked that this was done defying the order of the Hon'ble court and was done in the presence of police, why the police did not act to protect the court order and make the children enter the school and attend classes. Later on at the time of closure of the school they told the driver of the van not to bring some other children also to the school tomorrow. Com D P Maur – Secretary, Dr Arun Mitra Distt. Asstt. Secretary and others from CPI said that this is violation of ADVERTISE IN Indian constitution, VIBES Right to Education Act Starting From Just Rs. 35/- pscm* and National Protection

by using play-way methods. While addressing the students & parents, he lauded the remarkable progress made by the school in the field of education. He had advised the students to endeavour to shine in every sphere. He had also advised the staff member that they should dwell upon character training and take it as the first and foremost mission in life. With it come all the qualities which will make their life successful. He told the students about the importance of the day and how on this day sh. Guru gobind singh selected the panj piaras and estab-

of Child Rights Act. The children have a soft mind and such incidents leave long standing impact on them. The party has demanded that the Commissioner of Police should intervene directly and ensure education of these children in the school. Many schools in the name of education are indulging in mafiaism and the party will launch agitation as per need. The Hon’ble court of Shri Varinder Kumar – PCS, (CJ) (JD) Ludhiana had issued an order on 03.04.2018 to GNPS “restraining the school from deleting the name of children from school and stopping their result”. Despite this the school is not admitting the students. This is a clear cut violation of the court order. The parents of

some students of the school had filed the cases regarding exorbitant fees, annual charges, development fees, activities charges as per Punjab Fee Regulatory Act 2016 in Divisional Commissioner, Patiala against GNPS. Since the Divis ional Commissioner Patiala failed to redress the grievance, the parents filed a complaint to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Delhi. The NCPCR directed to the Divisional Commissioner Patiala to ensure education of the students till the decision is made and report compliance within 7 days. But Divisional Commissioner Patiala did not act. This matter had been duly brought to the notice of Commissioner of Police Ludhiana.

GEMINI: You'll find your emotions are being superenergized this week... It's when you can be dangerously psychic or intuitive at times and totally clueless a few moments later...This can be a great time for your career/professional life if you can find a way to remain focused on the current task without getting distracted or sidetracked. CANCER: You can be a whining little cry-baby that is hopeless and pathetic... Or you can harness the incredible surge of emotion and power that can help raise you up to higher levels of life & love... This energy isn't for the weak and Cancer is "Cardinal" sign and definitely is not weak by nature...You're being asked to give in, release negativity & allow fate to happen. LEO: The more serious you get, the more predictable and boring you appear to others... (sorry to be blunt)... Your sign rules the 5th House of Love & Romance... Of imagination and creativity... You cannot allow yourself to get shackled down by Modern Life... That doesn't mean living in a dream-land, but more to use your creativity & imagination to rise above any problems so you can get back to what you do best... (Play & Create) VIRGO: The universe is trying to bring a natural state of inner peace & harmony to you. A big factor in this depends upon you being an active part in your personal relationships with others... It's about knowing when you need to take the lead, or when to allow others to "drive the bus". Just Focus!! Listen closely to what others are saying... LIBRA: In a way, this current chart is trying to tell you that whatever negativity, anger or aggression you may be feeling inside, you need to get over it so you can move ahead...t's clear the universe is bringing your inner strength & determination together to allow you to reach levels you never thought possible. The key is to do one thing at a time... To make a plan and then follow it... SCORPIO: The universe is trying to make you more aware of the "hidden truths" that others are trying so desperately to ignore or not accept... You need to reevaluate many of your own personal beliefs to be sure. ... Don't simply rely on what others are telling you. SAGITTARIUS: the universe is definitely trying to make you very aware of something... And with the Sun & the North Node aligned in your 1st House... It all has to do with being original and creative... It's very clear that the universe is trying to lift you to a higher position of leadership, honor & personal respect. CAPRICON: Communication is super important, but "taking action" is the key this week... It's knowing what needs to be done and doing it now and doing things right... The way they should be done. It's using your insights and looking ahead and making your plans to ensure your needs will be met in the future. AQUARIOUS: Everybody may have the right words, but the real question becomes can you rely upon them to follow through when you need them the most?... With Uranus on your 5th House cusp and going direct later this week, the universe is making sure you're not being naive... You must be prepared to take action. PISCES: Curtail your negativity. Do not undermine your confidence and self esteem as this week will be a bit demanding than the previous one. Things are sure to improve with your hard efforts. Also curtail your habit of believing every one... Your chances of success in a court case are more depending upon the effort you put in to turn the tide.

ARIES: Everything in your chart is starting to click & fall into place... There is a lot of abundance & prosperity indicated... With all that being said, you have to make sure you can handle the higher levels without turning into an ass... TAURUS: Your chart is trying to bring you into new uncharted territory... The opportunities for a much richer life experience (not just in wealth but overall satisfaction) ... But you need a clear head & heart to make the most of it. No free rides in this universe.

Preparing for exams? Give yourself the best chance with these top ten study tips, and try not to let the stress get to you!

Give yourself enough time to study. Don't leave it until the last minute. While some students do seem to thrive on last-minute cramming, it's widely 2 6 4 accepted that (for most of us) this is not the best way to approach an exam. 7 1 To help sort out your time management, set up a timetable for your study. Write 10 12 8 down how many exams you have and the days on which you have to sit them. 9 11 Then organize your study accordingly. You may want to give some exams more study time than others, so find a balance that you feel comfortable with. Organize your study space Make sure you have enough space to spread Horoscope your textbooks and notes out. Have you got enough light? Is your chair Tarrot Cards comfortable? Are your computer games out of sight? Vaastu Shastra Try and get rid of all distractions, and make sure you feel as comfortable and able B-37, Surya Kiran Market, to focus as possible. For some people, this may mean almost complete silence, Mall Road, Ludhiana for others, background music helps. Some of us need everything completely tidy 0161-5013918 and organized in order to concentrate, while others thrive in a more cluttered 93175-99918 environment. Think about what works for you, and take the time to get it right. APPOINTMENT BY PHONE Use flow charts and diagrams Visual aids can be really helpful when revising. At the start of a topic, challenge yourself to write down everything you already know about a topic - and then highlight where the gaps lie. Closer to the exam, condense your revision notes into one-page diagrams. Getting your ideas down in this brief format can then help you to quickly recall everything you need to know during the exam. Practice on old exams One of the most effective ways to prepare for exams is to practice taking past versions. This helps you get used to the format of the questions, and - if you time yourself - can also be good practice for making sure you spend the right amount of time on each section. Explain your answers to others Parents and little brothers and sisters don't have to be annoying around exam time. Use them to your advantage. Explain an answer to a question to them. That will help you to get it clear in your head, and also to highlight any areas where you need more work. Organize study groups Get together with friends for a study session. You may have questions that they have the answers to and vice versa. As long as you make sure you stay focused on the topic for an agreed amount of time, this can be one of the most effective ways to challenge yourself. Take regular breaks While you may think it's best to study for as many hours as possible, this can actually be counterproductive. If you were training for a marathon, you wouldn't try and run 24 hours a day. CWG 2018: Anish Bhanwala, 15, India’s youngest Commonwealth Games medallist

Anish Bhanwala broke Games record on Friday as he earned a gold medal in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol to take India’s medal tally to 34 on Day 9 of Common wealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia. With the feat, the 15year old became the youngest medallist for India in the history of CWG. The teenager shot a score of 30/40 in the final after topping qualification to give India 16th gold medal, surpassing Glasgow CWG 2014

tally of 15 golds. His score of 30 is the same as that of Rio Olympic silver medallist in 2016. Anish, who needed a perfect five, got all the shots right in the final round to break the G ames record in his debut. On becoming the youngest athlete in the Indian team, Anish said, “I’m very excited that I became the Commonwealth champion. I am the youngest athlete from India to win Common wealth gold at 15.” On his next

target, Anish said, “Next are the world championships (in South Korea) and Asian Games (Indonesia). I will celebrate with my coach.” The Junior World Cup gold medalist shooter, who is a Class X student, got permission from the Central Board of Secondary Education to take his Board exams next month. The National Rifle Association of India wrote to CBSE since the Class X and shooting dates were overlapping.

Punia, silver medal winner at CWG 2018, GOLD COAST: The shadow of controversy could be trailing her everywhere but Seema Punia still shines through it all. On Thursday, she became India’s most decorated athlete in the Common wealth Games. The 34-year-old, who began with a silver in the 2006 Games in Melbourne, bagged her third silver in what could be her final Commonwealth Games to take her collection to four. The other medals - a bronze and silver came in 2010 and 2014. The Indian, who went into the meet after some solid preparation on foreign shores, straightaway jumped into the lead as her heave landed at 60.41m. The response from defending champion Dani Stevens of Australia, who bagged a bronze behind Punia in 2006, was immediate as she snatched the lead with a throw of 61.39. Punia never managed to better her first effort, her series then reading 59.57, x, 58.54, x, 58.90m even as

Stevens moved from strength to strength, touching a new Games record mark of 68.26 on her fourth attempt at the Carrara stadium. “I could have done better. If I’m starting with 60, then I should have improved to 63 or 64. But I couldn’t,” she said. A lament followed: “How can I train without a coach. There was no one to tell me the finer points which could have helped me in the competition,” Punia said. Pressed further, Punia said: “Arey, manager log coach banke aaya hain (Managers have come as coaches)!” Asked whether she felt

the gold was out of her grasp, Punia said she was surprised by Stevens’ performance. “I used to train with her, so I know her performance. But today I was surprised to see her fitness. She is a much better thrower and I wanted to fight but that didn’t happen as my throw didn’t come properly,” Punia said. Asked about her training base in preparation for the Games, Punia asked why was the media so interested in her training. “I have opened the account and given the country a medal. So what purpose would be served

by finding that out. I train at home and abroad but yes there are benefits of training abroad. I trained in the USA,” she said with a give-away smile. On her long standing rivalry with Stevens, starting from 2006, Punia said, “She has got a team of around eight persons working with her. But who is there for us. We train and throw ourselves,” Punia said. “I’ll be around only till 2020 and I hope I can give my best in these two years. After that my body won’t allow me to compete,” Punia said.
